There is an inconsistency here. Under Andrew Mellon's biography, it says that he resigned to avoid impeachment, by taking the ambassadorship to the U.K. But on this page, it says that Mellon's funding of Cox's army was the pretext for Hoover to remove Mellon from office. Well, Hoover did not remove him from office, he must have appointed him ambassador. Was it a pretext for the impeachment of Mellon? Anyway, these two articles should be made consistent. There is no information about the aftermath of this event; i.e., Hoover's use of Gen McArthur and the Army to disperse Cox's army from the Capitol Mall. |

This is as important as the event itself, in that it shows the extreme measures taken by Hoover to stop the protest. I would think this should be included by one with more complete information than I have, because I believe that most people do not know that the US military can be used against US citizens. inconsistency of facts about Andrew Mellon

Under Andrew Mellon's biography, it says that he resigned to avoid impeachment, by taking the ambassadorship to the U.K. But on this page, it says that Mellon's funding of Cox's army was the pretext for Hoover to remove Mellon from office.
