The academy has a very small, yet successful, sixth form and post 16 facility. It is, however, in the process of closing.

From September 2018, [[Suffolk New College]] 'on the coast' will open on the academy's campus. This will offer a variety of vocational courses for students post 16.

The school is now known as Alde Valley Academy. In 2019 the school joined Waveney Valley Academies Trust.

The academy's ethos is underpinned the motto 'Achievement for All'. The Acting Headteacher is Mr J Harris and the Deputy Headteacher is Mrs L Isaac.
