Peter Joseph Phipps (born April 8, 1973)[1] is a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Biography
[edit]Phipps earned both a Bachelor of Science in physics and a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Dayton, summa cum laude, and earned his Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School, where he served as the managing editor of the Stanford Law & Policy Review. He also served as a law clerk to Judge R. Guy Cole Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

McVerry, who assumed senior status on September 30, 2013.[3] On April 25, 2018, a hearing on his nomination was held before the Senate Judiciary Committee.[4] On May 24, 2018, his nomination was reported out of committee by a voice vote.[5] On October 11, 2018, his nomination was confirmed by voice vote.[6] He received his judicial commission on October 17, 2018,[7] and was sworn in on October 23, 2018. His service as a district court judge ended on July 22, 2019 when he was elevated to the court of appeals.[7]
