==Beginning of the Community==
In the early 1970s, at a time when there was no mosque in Dublin, [[Muslim]] students began to contact their relatives, Islamic organizations in the [[UK]] and some Muslim countries with the purpose of raising funds to establish a mosque in Dublin. In 1974 a four-storey house was bought, and in 1976 the first mosque and Islamic centre was opened. A few years after its establishment, this mosque became too small to accommodate the increasing numbers of worshippers.
