It is the home stadium for the Caracas [[football (soccer)|football]] clbus [[Caracas FC]] and [[Deportivo Petare]]. The stadium is one of the many sports complexes in the Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas. This university campus designed by [[Carlos Raúl Villanueva]] was built between 1940 and 1960.

Estadio Olímpico de la UCV is a multipurpose stadium (football, athletics, rugby) used mainly for association football in Caracas, Venezuela, which serves the home ground of Caracas F.C., Deportivo La Guaira, Metropolitanos F.C., and Universidad Central.[2] It has a capacity of 24,264.

The stadium was designed by Venezuelan architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva. [citation needed] It was opened in 1951 and renovated in 2007.[2] It used to be the home ground of Unión S.C.[3]

The stadium has hosted major events such as the Copa Libertadores, the 1983 Pan American Games and the South American qualifiers for the World Cup, as well as the former Copa Merconorte and matches of the Copa América. [citation needed]

There have been several important football teams that have played at this stadium, such as Inter Milan, A.C. Milan, Real Madrid, USSR, Argentina and Brazil. [citation needed]
