These articles detail Chinese cultural influence. Nothing about this article restricts mentioning which countries are in the Western conception of East Asia. Korea does not use Chinese characters, Japan westernized after the Meiji restoration, and China uses simplified characters. Your argument is a straw-man. Vietnam should be included. undo Tag: Undo

  • curprev 19:1719:17, 29 November 2018GlowingMango talk contribs 2,582 bytes +123 Over a thousand years of using Chinese classical script is irrelevant? This is an article about culture, and not geography. Vietnam is culturally East Asian. Vietnamese (along with Korean and Japanese) are still used today to determine the pronunciation of middle Chinese. undo Tag: Undo

  • curprev 05:1405:14, 28 November 2018AdjunctMonument talk contribs 2,459 bytes −123 Reverted 1 edit by GlowingMango: According to Anne Prescott's East Asia in the World: An Introduction. Vietnam is classified as a Southeast Asian country and no longer even uses Chinese characters in its written language. Don't confuse historical Chinese influence with geographical and geopolitical classification. (TW) undo Tag: Undo

East Asia does not strictly exclude Vietnam. Furthermore, geography and culture are two different things. Vietnam is culturally East Asian. undo Tag: Undo
