I know, ofc guy originally wrote the genre like that must've wanted to explain "this is an soul music with dance elements" but most of this era's soul/motown sound was dance music itself. In this era, 1967, psychedelic and rock music was highly mainstream, and there was motown sound and soul/R&B, early form of Funk (James Brown). But ppl just danced on that.
