[edit]
I would like to bring to general attention the fact that most of the Wiki article is almost word-for-word quotation from the president-elects website:
http://www.attamills2008.com/site/?page_id=2
Being still a bit unfamiliar with all the Wikipedia guidelines, I don't know if that is acceptable but just thought people should know - maybe someone with better judgment can decide what to do with this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.112.232.65 (talk) 00:27, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- As it stood, it was a copyright violation. Thanks for bringing this to our attention; I've cited that website for all the text that comes from it, and reworded it as best I could without changing meaning. Hopefully that's enough. -kotra (talk) 04:18, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Name
[edit]Is he John Atta Mills (pagename) or John Atta-Mills (infobox)? Abdullais4u (talk) 06:58, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
this article is really bad. and i don't understand why there is a reference about T.B Joshua prophecising that atta mills will win the elections a couple of years back. this seems to me blatant religious propaganda. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rass curses (talk • contribs) 20:24, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
He is John Atta Mills, name isn't hyphenated because Atta is his middle name. Akan tribes name their twins Atta and Ataa, I'm assuming his twin is called Ataa. So no, He's not Atta-Mills. I honestly think the article can do without the many details on President Kuffour. Those details can be used for a John Agyekum Kuffour wikiPage. They are really not relevant on this page-at all! More about the man and less about his political opponents. Thank you very much
Calling all Ghanaians
[edit]My goodness, this is an inadequate article on your president. Can we fill it out?
Earthlyreason (talk) 13:56, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
thank you very much. I'm Ghanaian too and I think this is a very inadequate article..it does not give details where relevant, and too much information in irrelevant places. I wonder who wrote this article. I don't know how to, I'd've done something about it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gielaryea (talk • contribs) 22:19, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Request for Protection
[edit]Following the death of John Atta Mills, there has been a flurry of edits which may not be to the interest of the article. I would like to propose a semi-protected or, if possible, a fully protected status to this article as a pre-emptive measure to prevent vandalism.
- That template is a request to edit a protected article. This article is not protected. To request protection of an article, you would go to WP:RPP (request for page protection). Note that simply "a lot of edits lately" is not a reason for protection. - "A lot of problematic unsourced edits", or "A lot of edit warring" is the general criteria. -- The Red Pen of Doom 22:26, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

198.54.223.106 (talk) 10:42, 27 July 2012 (UTC) A request for correcting the spelling of the middle name "Fifii" in John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills' article. The correct spelling is "Fiifi" and not "Fifii" ...The double "i" comes first not last. Thanks198.54.223.106 (talk) 10:42, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
198.54.223.106 (talk) 10:42, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- I removed the previous unsourced contested spelling, but neither the al jazeera or BBC obits contained a verification of the proposed spelling either. Do you have a reliable source? -- The Red Pen of Doom 11:53, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- 198.54.223.106 (talk) 12:22, 27 July 2012 (UTC)I don't have a reliable article concerning Fiifi but I think a quick google check with the spelling will tell you Fifii was just a typo error by the person who initially typed it. I'm a Ghanaian myself and know the correct spelling of a Fante borned on Friday is "Fiifi" (Just do a quick google check-up will help). And its also a well known fact that his full name was John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills. Also in my own opinion I think the last edit by someone to clarify him been a Fante and how Fante was a sub-group of Akan was well explained and that portion of the article should not have been removed as well as where he comes from (I mean his hometown of "Ekumfi Otuam" in the Central Region of Ghana). Just stating he comes from a region without stating where in that region is like saying someone comes from US State of Georgia or Texas without stating where in the state the person comes from.

- wikipedia however, works by what we can verify in reliable sources. The fact is that various editors have claimed various tribal affiliations so particularly in such cases, we must have sources. -- The Red Pen of Doom 12:29, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Why the focus on the funeral?
[edit]Can I ask why there is such an obsessive focus on the minutiae about the state funeral and the actual substantive content about his role and impact in office is getting NOTHING? I mean if all he did that is worth noting is have a good funeral, well what does that really say about him? -- The Red Pen of Doom 21:15, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
This exhaustive collection of every pro forma condolences is a collection of trivia providing UNDUE weight to a not very important instance in the life of the man (ie his death, which was not actually action on his part at all); which trivializes the actual accomplishments. If included at all, the contents of the section need to be trimmed to only the most relevant and representative statements (and frankly that pretty much any one at random since they are merely re-phrasings of the "he was a good example") -- The Red Pen of Doom 17:33, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
I think the International Reactions should be left as it is because each statement has a distinct character with respect to bilateral relations and development with Ghana, friendship with Atta Mills. It's not undue weight. You need to understand the political history of Ghana and the relationship between Ghana and the countries/IGOs listed. They should be left as it is like it's been done with Wikipedia article on other presidents who died. 41.93.150.46 (talk) 12:02, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
