Vicente's notice as a writer was a result of his association with the royal court of King John II of Spain. He contributed to court dramatic functions and he was noticed by the Queen Dowager Leonore and commissioned to write the first of what would become a plethora of theatrical works. -- based on information elsewhere on Wikipedia and the internet, I believe that should be King of Portugal. I changed it, but it anyone believes I'm wrong, feel free to change it back. --JoanneB 10:03, 7 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, and I´m from Portugal, so I cleaned up a bit the text. The wikipedian who started it hardly can see the differences betwen two different, even related countrys, like Portugal and Spain. User:Mistico

I'm the Wikipedian who made that mistake, forgive me. Unfortunately my knowledge of the Spanish and Portuguese monarchies isn't very good. I'm pleased to see how this has been expanded. Keep up the good work! I will give this a good read through and add anything that I can. *Exeunt* Ganymead | Dialogue? 14:13, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
