Onur Cinel (born 17 June 1985) is a German football manager who is the assistant manager of Red Bull Salzburg and the Austria national football team.

Life and career

In 2009, Cinel was appointed as a youth manager of German side Rot-Weiss Essen. In 2012, he was appointed manager of German side TuS Heven 09. In 2012, he was appointed as a youth manager of German side FC Schalke 04. He worked as manager of the club's reserve team. He suffered relegation while managing them. He was described as "considered a great German coaching talent... did internships at Chelsea, Ajax in 2019 and with Pep Guardiola in Manchester".[1] In 2022, he was appointed as an assistant manager of the Austria national football team.

In 2023, he was appointed manager of Austrian side FC Liefering. In 2024, he was appointed manager of Austrian side FC Red Bull Salzburg. After that, he was appointed as an assistant manager of Austrian side FC Red Bull Salzburg. On 21 April 2024, he managed his first game for the club during a 4–2 win over SK Austria Klagenfurt.[2] They were in first place when he took over.[3] However, they finished the season in second place.

Cinel was born on 1 January 1989 in Essen, Germany. He is of Turkish descent through his parents.
