Vikidia is a separate project, not related to the English Wikipedia. If you have issues at Vikidia with your contributions, you must get help there.

Errors with the Cite SSRN template

edit

I was told by another user to contact you regarding an error I found with the Cite SSRN template. The template says that doi and s2cid are supported however when I put those parameters into a citation I get the {{cite SSRN}}: Unknown parameter |doi= ignored (help); Unknown parameter |s2cid= ignored.

Heres an example:

What I put in: {{Cite SSRN |title=Israel's SIGINT Oversight Ecosystem: COVID-19 Secret Service Location Tracking as a Test Case |last=Cahane |first=Amir |date=2020 |ssrn=3748401 |doi=10.2139/ssrn.3748401 |s2cid=234531824|ref=none}}

What I get: Cahane, Amir (2020). "Israel's SIGINT Oversight Ecosystem: COVID-19 Secret Service Location Tracking as a Test Case". SSRN 3748401. {{cite SSRN}}: Unknown parameter |doi= ignored (help); Unknown parameter |s2cid= ignored (help)

I was wondering if this is an issue with the template itself or something I'm doing wrong. CursedWithTheAbilityToDoTheMath (talk) 04:03, 23 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Where does [the] template [say] that doi and s2cid are supported? They are not and never have been supported. If you are thinking about the template's documentation page, it's in poor condition and filled mostly with the same boilerplate that you can find on any other cs1|2 template doc page. {{cite ssrn}} is one of a handful of cs1 templates that use a limited subset of the full cs1|2 parameter suite. The others are: {{cite arxiv}}, {{cite biorxiv}}, {{cite citeseerx}}, and {{cite medrxiv}}.

Sorry I misunderstood the documentation, I (wrongly) assumed that because doi and s2cid were listed under parameters in the documentation that they were supported. Thank you for your time! CursedWithTheAbilityToDoTheMath (talk) 04:45, 23 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
