Description
English: Gastric glands are composed of epithelial cells (A), chief cells (C), and parietal cells (B). The chief and parietal cells produce and secrete mucus (D) to protect the lining of the stomach (F) against the harsh pH of stomach acid. The mucus is basic, while the stomach acid (E) is acidic.
