Masavanatham is a village in Tamil Nadu state. It is situated near to Kalligudi. It belongs to Madurai district. The occupation of the people living in this village is agriculture.

Famous temple

It has a very old and famous Mariamman temple in this village and it is believed that the wishes of people gets fulfilled by making prayers in the month of Vaikasi. People from nearby villages come to this village during this Vaikasi month for celebrating Pongal festival for the goddess Mariamman.

Land of peafowls

Chennampatti is noted for the thousands of peafowl in the fields around the village. In evenings they cross the road and roam around just like people. People don't disturb them and they also don't disturb anyone. Many people come to Chennampatti to see them. They sometimes sit in the tops of palm trees.

According to the Sangam Tamil literature (Sangam landscape), landscapes are classified into 5 categories which are Kuriji, Mullai, Marutham, Neithal, Palai. This village can be categorised under Palai landscape. Black soil, dry lands, water resources (ponds and wells) are noticeable.

Palm trees

As it is 'Palai' land, there are Palm trees here. In the months of April, May, June and July there is get Nungu or (Nunku) and a drink called Pathaneer from these trees.

School

Hindu Nadar High School is in Chennampatti on the main road opposite the Mariamman temple. It started in 1937. It started as a primary school but now students study at the school from the 15 villages.
