The station was situated in between Bishop Auckland and Ferryhill stations and on the east side of Carr Street, formerly on the A6074. The station was first served by a market train to Byers Green in November 1845 with a daily service running to an unnamed terminus. This terminus closed in 1 June 1878. The station was used for football special trains until its closure in 1952. The station closed completely on 2 May 1966.[1]
