White Shadows talk - contribs

For several years now I have found several useful facts from Wikipedia. As a result I decided that I should help edit it. My name is White Shadows. I have been active on Wikipedia since the day I joined, July 21, 2009. Since then I have been trusted with Rollback and Autoreviewer. I enjoy editing on historical warfare, specifically, the World Wars (the Eastern Front and the Battle of France), the Franco-Prussian War and the American Civil War. When I began editing on Wikipedia, my main worry was Coldplay-related articles. While I am still very much involved in them, I have now branched out to other sections, joining WikiProject Military History and WikiProject Ships. I'm a dedicated vandal fighter as well. I'm also fairly active over at the DYK. Nominating articles and reviewing other nominations.

WikiProject Military History

  • Mostly active in articles dealing with the Second World War.
  • One of the largest contributors to World War II. Helped promote it to a Good Article.
  • Major contributor to Battle of Belgium. Helped promote it to a Good Article.

WikiProject Ships

  • Active contributor to World War I and World War II German U-boat articles.
  • Created over a dozen DYK's on German U-boats.
  • Wrote List of battleships of Austria-Hungary; along with several other major battleship and U-boat related articles.
  • Most of my work on U-boats are done in my two sandboxes.

Barnstars
The Invisible Barnstar
This is for the work you do to the various Wikiprojects you are involved in, which nobody really seems to recognize, for mastering the ridiculously complicated art of uploading images, and for being an expert on Coldplay. Hell, you're not actively destroying WP are you? That almost deserves a BS in its own right, Lord Spongefrog, (I am the Czar of all Russias!) 15:10, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

The Socratic Barnstar
You never cease to impress me with your well thought-out arguments, which show a great deal of clue for a relatively new user. In particularly, your edit to Katerenka's RfA showed you aren't afraid to be bold, even at an RfA. I wish I could do that. If I did something like that, I'd probably end up retracting it and apologising if I've caused offence :). Keep it up. You're making progress, and you'll be an admin yourself someday, Lord Spongefrog, (I am the Czar of all Russias!) 18:35, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Golden-fronted woodpecker
The golden-fronted woodpecker (Melanerpes aurifrons) is a species of bird in the woodpecker family, Picidae. It is found in the southern United States, Mexico and parts of Central America. It inhabits mesic and xeric landscapes, including mesquite brushlands and riparian woodlands. It can also be found in urban parks and suburban areas. Males and females have the same plumage except for the pattern on their heads. Adult males have a red crown and a golden orange to yellow nape with a gap between them; females have a grayish crown and a paler yellow nape. The golden-fronted woodpecker has a diet of adult and larval arthropods, some aerial insects, fruit, nuts and corn, as well as occasionally eating other birds' eggs. The bird has a loud call and a short, slow drumming pattern. This male golden-fronted woodpecker was photographed perching on a branch in Copán, Honduras.Photograph credit: Charles J. Sharp
