Big5 Türkiye is Türkiye’s first survival show aimed at forming the country’s next idol girl group through a competitive format inspired by survival shows and training methodologies from the K-pop industry. It premiered on the BIG5 YouTube channel on September 6, 2024, and aired every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:00 PM local time. Viewers are drawn into the competitive journey of young women vying to become the next big stars in T-Pop (Turkish Pop). Each week, contestants are evaluated by a panel of experienced mentors and judges, with a combination of live performances, training camps, and elimination rounds leading up to the grand finale.
Format and Structure
The format of Big5 Türkiye is divided into three main stages:
Initial Auditions & Selection: Out of thousands of applicants, the first phase narrows the contestants down to 60 pre-candidates. These contestants undergo rigorous vocal and dance evaluations, with the top 15 moving on to the next stage.
Training Camp: In the second phase, the 15 finalists enter an intensive training camp where they undergo vocal training, dance rehearsals, and style development. With the guidance of renowned experts like Ayşegül Aşcı (dance coach), Berke Taşdelen (dance coach), Burcu Koşar (vocal coach), and Ali Fuat Değirmenci (producer), the contestants enhance their skills and learn to present themselves as professional idols. This phase also includes performance challenges and showcases. Contestants face bi-weekly performance evaluations, with one contestant eliminated after each round. These assessments cover dance and vocal tests, along with feedback from the judges, continuing until the final 5 contestants are selected.
Final Stage: The show moves into its final stage with three episodes leading up to the formation of the group at the end of February. The selected top 5 contestants will form the girl group that will represent T-Pop in Turkey, with the potential for international recognition.
Judges
The show’s mentors and judges include a mix of industry veterans:
- Tolga Akış, a leading figure in talent management and music production, brings his expertise in nurturing the next generation of stars.
- Gülçin Ergül, a talented musician whose career starts with the famous girl band "Hepsi," offers insight into group dynamics and supports the contestants during studio recordings.
- Enes Abdulla, a key figure in Turkey’s dance scene, provides invaluable knowledge in performance and choreography, supporting the contestants during dance training.
These mentors work alongside the contestants, guiding them through the highs and lows of the competition and offering valuable advice on building a sustainable music career.

Missions & Eliminations
Each performance mission takes place within 24 hours, requiring contestants to learn the choreography, complete studio recordings, and perform. This creates a highly fast-paced yet even playing field for everyone, regardless of whether they come from dance or vocal backgrounds.
After each mission, two contestants face a singing battle in the elimination round, with one ultimately saying goodbye to the competition.
Mission 1
In the first episode, Big 5 Türkiye brought the excitement as three groups of five contestants performed the iconic song "Bir Tanecik Aşkım" by judge Gülçin Ergül. Mellisa Derin Mert and Aysıla Cengiz, who were part of the group that received a Big No, failed to impress the judges, therefore both contestants were sent to the Elimination Round, battle to take place in the next episode.

Mission 3
For the third mission, the contestants performed "Rampapapam" by Arem Özgüç & Arman Aydın feat. Buray & Feride Hilal Akın & KÖK$VL. This challenge introduced rapper positions for the first time, giving contestants the opportunity to showcase their rap skills alongside their singing and dancing abilities.

After the "Rampapapam" performance, Mina A. decided to withdraw from the competition due to personal reasons.
Following the performances, the 2nd group received a Big No, placing Özden and Esin at the bottom. The two had to face off in the Elimination Round. They performed "Araba" by M Lisa, and after a tough battle, Özden was eliminated, leaving the competition.

Mission 4
For Mission 4, the contestants performed the song "Savaştım Harbiden" by Kozmos & Zeynep Bastık. This time, the rappers of the groups—Ayça, Zeynep O., and Hilal—were given the challenge of writing their own rap verses, working together with Kozmos.

Mission 5
After Mission 4, Ayça and Mina S. were both injured and, following the production team's suggestion, took a break from the competition to recover.
This week, 3 new contestants joined the cast. Due to the two eliminations from the previous week and the two contestants being in recovery, one group performed with 4 members, while the rest performed in groups of 5. For this mission, the contestants performed their first English song: "Bellydancing" by Inji.

After their performance in Mission 4, the judges decided to give Ela and Efnan a Big No, sending them to the Elimination Round. They performed "Ellerim Boş" by M Lisa, and for the first time, a short choreography was introduced to the battle. Unfortunately, neither contestant survived the battle and were eliminated.

Mission 6
For the sixth mission, contestants performed "Öpücük" by Zeki Arkun, a choreography-focused challenge emphasizing technical precision and synchronization. With no new contestants joining this week, teams were composed of four members each.
In addition to the performance, contestants showcased their acting skills through a short introductory music video, highlighting their versatility as performers.

The judges determined that Group 2 delivered the weakest performance of the mission. As a result, Aslı and Senanur were sent to the elimination round, where they performed "Aldatıldık" by Rengin.
For the second consecutive week, the judges were unimpressed by both contestants' performances and made the decision to eliminate them both from the competition.

Mission 7
For the final challenge, the judges decided to test the remaining contestants' vocal abilities once more, in order to determine which 10 contestants would advance to the final round of the show. Each contestant was asked to select and perform a song in front of an audience, with no choreography involved this time. The focus was solely on showcasing their vocal talent.

At the end of the training camp stage, Mina and Ezgi were eliminated from the competition based on their final performances, as well as considerations regarding their educational commitments and personal health concerns. The remaining 10 contestants advanced to the final stage.
Big Yes & Big No
Upon elimination, each eliminated contestant gave their 'Big Yes' and 'Big No' to the remaining contestants. At the end of the training camp, these were reflected as points for the finalists.
