In the early 1990's, RT3123's original British made [[Associated Equipment Company|AEC]] [[diesel engine]] and Wilson [[preselector gearbox|pre-select]] manual transmission was replaced with an American made [[Cummins]] diesel engine and an [[Allison Transmission|Allison]] automatic transmission. In the early 2000's, RT3123's engine was again replaced, this time with a [[Deere & Company|John Deere]] [[compressed natural gas|compressed natural gas (CNG)]] engine.
