The charity, protest and [[street performance]] organisation [[Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence]] was formed by [[gay men]] in San Francisco in 1979, originally using nuns' attire and [[high camp]] to draw attention to social conflicts in the [[the Castro, San Francisco]] district. Currently they fundraise for [[AIDS]] and other [[LGBT]] causes and promote and educate on [[safe sex| safer sex]] issues. The ''Cambridge Guide to American Theater'' identified them as one of the "more anarchic uses of "gender-fuck"... [which]...
