The board's ambitions were seemingly high, as they had a goal of winning the league. At the end, it turned out to be a two-man race in the Virsliga, as RFS finished 2nd, 7 points behind Riga FC. Nevertheless, RFS won their first ever title that year, after finally overcoming their curse of being knocked out in the Latvian Cup semi-finals as they defeated FK Jelgava 3–2 in the [[2019 Latvian Football Cup|final]], thanks to an extra-time winner by Tomas Šimkovic.
