I just cleared the deck for action, to use a naval term from the days of sail (wonderful days). Now I can more easily see your comments, if you have any. and you can more easily find my replies, if any. Chances are, I won't be replying. Nothing personal, and nothing to do with the merits or demerits of your argument. We just don't have the space to conduct arguments. You're taking responsibiity for your inputs and we're exercising the "presumption of good faith." Whether it is or is not is your burden. I don't keep your old talk around for long so you probably won't be seeing much here. Regard it as an erasable blackboard.Botteville (talk) 21:58, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello. Due to circumstances that have nothing to do with WP or any article or person on it I am taking a break here. If I was involved in any discussion recently, don't count on my being gone quite yet. I may be back, probably not for months, possibly not. It is uncertain. Whether we live in some New Mexican Garden of Eden or in the cold, blustery, working class cities of the north, we all share in the experience of uncertainty. Nothing is certain but the uncertain. So, you have it good for a while without me on. Only for a while. I will check for messages from time to time. Ciao.Botteville (talk) 13:12, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
:As it turns out, I can come back now on a limited basis. I'm back. It was really worth taking a break for a while. Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees. After looking at the encyclopedia from the outside I can see how valuable it really is. You end up starting there whether you plan to do so or not. One cannot deprecate the professionals, who are the ultimate word on this or that topic and made a huge committment to do that. But, in between there has to be something, and I guess we're it. I know the bickering is often hard to take. But, it seems to me the result is finally worth it. Glad to be back. I have decided to change my technique, as sometimes I am advised to do. Instead of fighting it through sentence by sentence I will drop in finished blocks. So, you will see less of me day to day. Ciao. See you around.Botteville (talk) 19:04, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

:Category:Houses in Rowley, Massachusetts has been nominated for merging
:I'm off now. Off is off. I looked at the discussion on the above article. Nothing is being said there. The comments are all just overall negative remarks about how awful this article is. You can probably get any number of people to say bad things about anything. Why pick on me? If you are going through my articles you better get going, as there are quite a few. But while you are doing that, what about all the others?
<div class="floatleft" style="margin-bottom:0"></div>:Category:Houses in Rowley, Massachusetts has been nominated for merging. :I was, however, more concerned about you. I read your recent additions to your UP. I'm off now so I am not taking you on. I had my 20 years here and now it is time to go. After a time you need a certain amount of power to do the job. My brief bids were all turned down, but I was not that interested in power anyway. Now I can't defend myself against czars like you. But I am concerned about you. You have a huge load marked out for yourself, pages and pages of it, and yet you have a job to hold down and a career to worry about. Now you have both articles you would like to work on and a huge administrative load to worry about. How can you possibly keep up? When you do finally break and have to cut back, just remember, you did contribute something and some of it was worth while. Wikipedia's problems are not your personal problems. They can always find someone to work on them.

:Just off the top of my head, only one thought occurs to me about your write-up of what not to do. What, exactly, is left that you should do? How are we going to encourage people to be aggressive and write? But of course I do not know who you really are and what your intent really is. Anyone can find something wrong with anything. How are we to find something right? You can gain a certain notoriety by playing the devil with anything, but is that the best policy? Well, with these encouragements toward self-examination I leave you now. Content-wise, I think your view of what needs to be referenced could use some clarification. I won't be logging in for quite a while. I may delete my UP, I don't know. Off is off, so I got no interest in long confrontations. You're Wikipedia's problem or asset, whichever, not mine. Beat my stuff up all you like. My first good article on WP was torn to shreds within a month or two and that was 20 years ago. Ciao.Botteville (talk) 12:36, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
:Sorry I missed that one. Left reply on UP.Botteville (talk) 19:42, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
