It has been remade in [[Telugu language|Telugu]], [[Kannada]], and twice in [[Hindi]].

Thangavel is a bachelor working as a [[coolie]] in a bus stand. One day, he goes to look for a bride for himself at someone's house. There, he getsis insulted for workingas a low-classporter who jobworks for small wages. UpsetOn that day, with an upset face, he goesis toat the bus stand, where, unexpectedly, he meets the marriage broker Ambalavanan, a manwho he had helped a few days earlier. HeThey tellshave Ambalavana aboutconversation howin hewhich wasThangavel neglectedsays ateverything aabout bride'show placewas he insulted. HeAt learnsthe thatsame Ambalavanantime, Ambalavan was recentlyalso insulted by Aalavandhan (thealso known as Periya pannai) for recommendingbringing a low- status groom for his elder daughter, (Janaki) at Periya pannai's house. NowIn revenge, Ambalavanan intends to teach Aalavandhan a vital lesson toabout controlcontrolling his arrogance. Ambalavanan helpsand Thangavel to make a plan,deal bothwith each other to helpcheat ThangavelPeriya andpannai. exactIn revengethis on Aalavandhan:drama, Thangavel will pretendpretends to be a rich man returningand professional of engineer fromcalled Singapore, andwho hereturns willand godecides to check in on the Periyaplanning pannaiof construction builds up in searchthe ofPeriya apannai's bridevillage. WhenWhile he entersis heron the way to the village, Thangavel seesluckily thatmeets Janaki is driving a [[bullock cart]]. He betsmakes a bet with her onto join in a race between his car and her cart. As theThe race begins. At one stage, somewhere on his way, Thangavel's car breaks down, so Janaki takes an easy win. Upon meeting her, Thangavel falls in love with Janaki and plans to marry her, at once fulfilling his plan with AmbalavanAmbalavanan and his own desires for social status and a bride. The marriage goes through as planned, and time passes.

One day, the Periya pannai goescomes to the buscity standand togets takeoff afrom the bus to visit his daughter. Suddenly, he seesmeets his new son -in -law working. Heat the bus stand and feels that he is being deceived by Thangavel. Later, ashe murmurs he didn'twill let his daughter know heeverything workedabout aswhat awas cooliehappened in athe bus stand for low wages. LaterThen, hewhen isThangavel ashamedcomes inback himselfto forthe beinghouse, cheated.he Whenis Thangavelstopped seesby thatJanaki. his father-in-law saw him, heHe makes a new plan to convincetell his father-in-law that the person he met iswas his younger brother.
