On 1 January 1973 the Community enlarged for the first time to include [[Denmark]], [[Republic of Ireland|Ireland]] and the [[United Kingdom]]. The [[Conservative Party (UK)|British Conservative]] and [[Conservative People's Party (Denmark)|Danish Conservative]] parties formed their own group called the European Conservative Group<ref name="t1s2"/> on 16 January 1973.<ref name="t1s7"/> ▼
