Jack and Jill
In Mythology 1:6 Thorpe says the image on the moon is two children carrying water in a bucket on a pole over their shoulders. And that Gylfaginning:11 recounts that Mâni took up Bil and Juki from a well on earth. Over time he conjectures the name Juki mutated into Jack and Bil became Jill, Jack and Jill (nursery rhyme). Their climbing the hill and the the spilling of water represents the ebb and flow of the tides (Baring-Gould. Curious Myths 201). Or some say the fall of Jack and Jill represents the vanishing of moon spots as the moon wanes. Kildwyke (talk) 04:20, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
