The land was given to Evans for serving under [[George Washington]] at [[Fort Necessity]] during the [[French and Indian War]]. Evans later served in the [[American Revolutionary War]]. Evansville lies on the [[Northwestern Turnpike]] ([[U.S. Route 50]]) along Little Sandy Creek.▼
