Algorithm of concept map transformation to ontology for usage in intelligent knowledge assessment system

Published: 16 June 2011 Publication History

Abstract

The paper is dedicated to OWL ontology derivation from concept maps (CMs) which have been created using the intelligent knowledge assessment system (IKAS). Usage of IKAS allows capturing quite a lot of CMs of different topics covered in several study courses taught at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology of Riga Technical University (RTU). Captured CMs can be used as parts for building the ontology describing a study course and a full programme. Besides using different already developed reasoning tools an ontology can be a source for further audit of the programme. The paper presents the algorithm for OWL ontology generation from CMs.
