Between 2020 and 2022, employment rose more slowly among nonprofits than for-profits. In 2022, nonprofit employment was 1.4 percent lower than in 2019, as nonprofit-heavy industries such as other services recovered slowly from the March 2020–April 2020 recession.

In 2022, there were 77 fatal injuries involving workers between the ages 18 to 19 years, 8 fewer than in 2021. This was the first decrease in fatalities for this age group since 2019, despite 2022 having the second-largest number of fatal injuries for this age group in a decade. Only three age groups—all of which are 19 years and younger—experienced decreases in fatalities in 2022: under 16 years, 16 to 17 years, and 18 to 19 years.

Each October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month raises awareness of disability employment issues. During 2023, 24.2 percent of people with a disability either were employed or were looking for work. In contrast, the labor force participation rate for people without a disability was 68.1 percent.
