A Morris County wildfire that residents say may have been caused by fireworks set off on Halloween night had spread to nearly 140 acres as of Friday, Nov. 1. Hoboken PATH Station Closing In February For Repairs: Port Authoit
As part of a repair project, the Port Authority announced the PATH Hoboken station will be closed from Thursday, Jan. 30 to Tuesday, Feb. 25. The move comes as part of the agency's two-year $430 million PATH Forward program. During the closure, the Port Authority will carry out critical safety repairs and improvements across several elements of the 116-year-old system. Rise In Walking Pneumonia Cases Prompts CDC Warning
Cases of walking pneumonia have spiked significantly, especially among children, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning in a brand-new advisory. The agency said increases in M. pneumoniae-associated pneumonia infections began late this past spring, peaked in August, and have remained high. A former Columbia University vice president has been convicted of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13 years old at his Bergen County home, authorities announced. Marcelo Velez was found to have sexually assaulted the child at his home in Woodcliff Lake after the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office was notified in January 2021, Prosecutor Mark Musella said. A 72-year-old woman has been charged with calling in a bomb threat to Holy Name Medical in August, authorities said. Adele Ulrich, of Wayne, called the hospital on Aug. 17 saying that several bombs were going to detonate in the hospital, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said following a months-long investigation. A 24-year-old woman was killed in a two-car crash in West Orange on Tuesday, Oct. 29, authorities said. A man wanted for arson in Texas was arrested in Secaucus on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 30, authorities said. At 8:23 a.m., officers observed a man, later identified as Tito Correa, causing a safety hazard as he walked between multiple cars outside of a crosswalk at Meadowlands Parkway and Wood Avenue, while other vehicles were traveling in both directions, Secaucus police said.
