Hello everyone,
Today is National Read a Book Day, which is observed on every year on September 6th. According to the National Calendar, National Read a Book Day invites us ALL to grab a book we might enjoy and spend the day reading! Reading improves memory and concentration as well as reduces stress. Books are inexpensive, provide great entertainment, and can even serve as a time machine!
I'm currently reading two books; Dare to Lead: Brave Work. Tough Conversations. Whole Hearts. By Brene Brown and We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story by Simu Liu.
So now it's your turn. Let us know what book you will pick up and read today!
Yes @Susan Waldrip - Dare to Lead is so good so far! I've already gotten a ton out of it and I'm in a program at work that uses her stuff a lot! She is so great!
I've been told by a coworker that I should read "The Princess Bride", to which I said, "As you wish". It's inconceivable that I'm going to get through the book today, as I'll be having fun storming the castle instead.
Have a great Friday!
To the pain!
Love the references @Dan Breyen! I love The Princess Bride! Takes me back to my childhood!
The book is such a different ride than the movie.
I like to use references to the Princess Bride whenever I write example text for things ("Inigo Montoya" is my favorite "imaginary user"). :]
haha....nice, @Dan Breyen !
Currently reading False Witness, but I'm always reading something. I love StoryGraph for tracking my books. :)
That's a great idea @Amanda Barber! I should recommend that to my mom as she has 100's of books!
I use StoryGraph as well. Really well designed and reactive to user feedback. Agile development done well :)
I am always reading, though I am pretty exclusive to sci-fi/fantasy and mysteries. I am currently making my was through the Detective Inspector Skelgill Investigates series by Bruce Beckham. I love those British detectives. I am all the way up to book 24, which is the latest release.
Wow! That is quite a commitment @Barbara Szczesniak! Fun stuff!
Oh, Dare to Lead was a great book! Maybe I'll give the audiobook another listen!
My to-be-read (TBR) pile is...well...we won't talk about it. But my copy of Sacred Plant Magic by Amy Blackthorn arrived and I can't wait to dig in to it over the weekend!
Just starting "Everyone's a Theologian" by RC Sproul. Good primer for understanding the Christian faith.
I'm going to mention this one to my dad; at 82 he's become very interested in the origins and history of different religions.
I've been hearing a lot about Dare to lead, I would probably give it a try!
Currently finishing up The Locked Door and about to start The Power of Discipline, which I've been putting off for a while...haha
Hello everyone
I like to read a lot, and I like to read a variety of book genres. I think that everyone always has a lot to contribute. In fact, I love books so much that I even wrote one myself, which I have available on Amazon.
I am currently reading the book "Supercommunicators" by Charles Duhigg, it is really interesting.
Regards
Enchantment by Guy Kawasaki is a great read.
A bit late here, but we introduced our 11 year old daughter to the Harry Potter series this summer, so I have been working through them (again) myself so she and I can have discussions around the plots and storylines.
I wish you luck with that! I know a lot of my friends are facing the challenge of their kids being the right age for HP and encountering it via their friends and pop culture, but also having to explain why HP is problematic and not supported in their home due to the author, and trying to figure out age-appropriate discussions about it all. I have nothing but empathy for parents in this situation. It's not at all easy. 💜
Spoiler alert. Jack Reacher fans, Season 3 on Amazon is based on "Persuader", book 7 in the series. I was on vacation and this one happened to be next in the list. Looking forward to the adaptation now. Book was great.
Well, right now I'm working through the Jack Reacher series. I'll admit most of my 'reading' is listening to audio books on the way to and from work. But I'll still plow through a good book when I'm able.
