Summary

[edit]
Description

Geometrical defects in polygon construction is a novel and sensitive tool to analyze order-disorder transitions and characterize the state of a two-dimensional many-particle system. Geometrical defects, represented by non-triangular polygons, are obtained by removing unusually long bonds in Delaunay triangulation of particle positions. The image shows the distribution of geometrical defects in 2D Yukawa liquid right after the melting transition.
