In the later days of Southern Television Dave Knowles was the editor of Out of Town and worked very closely with Jack on the programme. After Southern lost their franchise he was the Producer and editor on 60 programmes for Channel 4 called "Old Country" using the same format and set that had been used at Southern Television for "Out of Town". The programmes were made between 1983 and 1985 by his companies "Lacewing Productions" and later "The Production Unit".
