Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Original caption: The Coastal Zone Color Scanner (CZCS) uses ocean color to determine chlorophyll and sediment concentration, and to locate pollutants caused by ocean dumping, red tide organisms, river plumes, algae, and other oceanic matter. This CZCS illustration shows the west coast of Florida to about 100 miles west of the Mississippi River. Colors indicate atmospheric aerosols and clouds over the Gulf of Mexico, a smoke plume forming an S-curve west of the Mississippi, and a red tide outbreak near the southern tip of western Florida. Demarcation lines between the Gulf Stream and the shallow waters off the Florida Keys are evident.
