Photograph of Balaklava Bay. The town is built on the curve of the estuary to the right. The Prince and Princess of Wales, later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, visited the Crimea in 1869 as part of a tour of the East. It is likely that this set of photographs were collected during or just after the tour. Provenance Acquired by the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, c.1869 |
