English: Frontispiece from "The Adventures of Gerard" (1908) (historical fiction about a good-hearted, bold, braggart Brigadier in Napoleon's army) by Conan Doyle. Illustrator W B (William Barnes) Wollen; Publishers: Smith, elder & Co., London. The illustrations were first published in the serial, "The Adventures of Etienne Gerard in The Strand Magazine between 1902-03, and in book form in 1903.
