[edit]Description2022 Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony (52533581437).jpg |
Chief Randy Moore of the United States Forest Service. The 2022 #USCapitol Christmas Tree was chosen from the National Forests of North Carolina. The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) selects the annual #CapitolChristmasTree in consultation with the United States Forest Service. This year's selection, a 78-foot red spruce, was harvested on November 2 and arrived at the U.S. Capitol on November 18 after traveling by truck. Upon arrival at the U.S. Capitol, the AOC Capitol Grounds and Arboretum team secures the tree and decorates it with thousands of handcrafted ornaments from the people of North Carolina. The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree is a time-honored tradition of more than 50 years. Once decorated, the tree will be lit from nightfall until 11:00 p.m. each evening through January 1, 2023.
