English: MoFAC, October 25th, 2022- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, H.E. Mrs. Adaljiza Magno received an introductory call from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, H.E. Mr. Tan Van Thong; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway, H.E. Mrs. Rut Krüger Giverin; and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria, H.E. Mr. Thomas LOIDL.
At these occasions, Minister Magno congratulated the three ambassadors on their new appointment and reaffirmed the warm and friendly relations between the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste with the three countries. On Multilateral issues, H.E. Minister informed regarding Timor-Leste’s candidacy to the Human Rights Council and looking for its support. On Regional issues, H.E. Minister Magno and each ambassador had exchanged ideas on how the long processes of becoming the ASEAN members. The government of Timor-Leste will work closely with all development partners and be more active in the international forum and will play its role to contribute to peace and security in the region and in the world. Timorese Foreign Minister extended sincere gratitude to all ambassadors for their support and contribution for Timor-Leste’s national development and also for Timor-Leste’s accession to ASEAN and WTO. All parties had also shared ideas on International Security issues particularly the impact of the war in Ukraine to the Global economy. During the meeting, H.E. Minister Magno shared Timor-Leste’s priorities, principles, and cores of Timor-Leste’s foreign policy. All parties discussed efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations, and enhance cooperation in the area of Economic, Trade, Education, Health, Food Security, Air Service Agreement and strong connection between people-to-people. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation firstly welcomed the Vietnamese Ambassador, followed by the Norwegian Ambassador and the Austrian Ambassador.
