Summary
[edit]DescriptionPuccinia graminis 20130828b.jpg |
English: Cross section of barberry leaf (Berberis vulgaris) with spermogonia and aecia of wheat stem rust (Puccinia graminis). The upper face spermogonia are + or -, depending on the basidiospore from whose germination they derive, and produce spermatia, unicellular, and receptive hyphae, which are also + or -. Spermogonia produce a nectar that attracts flies, making it easier for the spermatias, which are adhesive, to be transported from one spermatogonium to another, where, if this one is of a different sign, they will fulfill their function. From the fusion of a spermatium with a cell of a receptive hypha of different sign arises a new mycelium, dicariótico (with binucleated cells), which extends across the leaf, producing sporangia, called aecia, on the underside. The aecia produces dicariotic spores (aeciospores) destined to infect the stems of the wheat (Triticum). |
