Description

Child marriage marks the beginning of frequent and unprotected sex, often leading to an early and risky first pregnancy.

“I got married when I was 13 and we started having sex straight away,” says Selenat. “The groomsmen and the entire family were so excited that I was a virgin that my pain, my screaming - that was the whole point of the marriage.”
