Aquarelle sur traits à la mine de plomb. Signé en bas, à droite, au pinceau et à l'encre noire. Indications en haut, à la mine de plomb :forme du costume de trois grands dignitaires de l'Empire / Savoir / - l'archichancelier manteau violet / - l'archichancelier d'état idem bleu clair / l'architrésorier idem noir / le grand électeur en ponceau(?) et indication en bas, à la mine de plomb :grand costume de l'archichancelier de l'Empire, et en bas à la plume et encre brune :Grand dignitaire grand costume.

Il s'agit ici d'une des nombreuses études exécutées pour le Sacre (cf. Mme de Barily-Callimaki, Jean-Baptiste Isabey, 1909, p. 69-112). Le Cabinet des dessins possède les études d'Isabey pour les costumes et décorations des personnalités participant au Congrès de Vienne (dessins RF 3655 à RF 3676)
