== Restoration of Geograph information ==
Thanks for restoring that removed metadata information on the file uploaded from Geograph. It was an utterly unintentional edit that was made to the file using the Android Commons app. It appears that app is absolutely appallingly programmed as it did a similar thing to another file that I edited using it as well. Then upon realising what had happened I tried to revert that other file, only to run into an error message. I have reported the error message and pointed out the dreadful state of the Commons app that it can do that to a file on the system.
Would appreciate it if you would try reverting the other file as well. It's ]]File:Acer negundo 44809168.jpg]].

Hi - I tried to rename this file [[:File:Protest Tbilisi 21 April 2024 (53884233412).jpg]] - which request you reverted - to a filename in line with a handful of others of the same date, same event, same site, same source and same photographer (that is me) - so that they are neatly together in a category that holds currently a few dozen photos of various dates. See the other files here [[:Category:Demonstrations and protests in Georgia in 2024]] - files [[:File:2024 Georgian Protests, April 21 (3).jpg]] to [[:File:2024 Georgian Protests, April 21 (6).jpg]]. The discrepancy occurred, when I uploaded a few files and took a break. - to be continued some hours later for the remainder of the photos. In the meantime, another commons user checked my Flickr album and decided to go ahead with uploading the photos that I just prepared - using a different filename format and the automatic flickr2commons algorithm. Honestly, I don't see the problem here to just move ahead and allow the filenames of the same series of photos to match just so they will be together in this folder that spans multiple protests. The alternative is that I make a separate category, but I think that really shouldn't be necessary to make life easier for our users who look for suitable photos - and possibly for a specific date / event - taking in consideration that in such a bucket photos it is more convenient to have photos sorted together that belong to the same event and day. Hi! I see you have been working on license migration. You have written for some files that "Mark for GFDL review: upload date between 2008-11-01 and 2009-07-31 inclusive, so relicensing depends on its not having been published elsewhere under GFDL first".
I think that if copyright holder upload the file to a Wikimedia project it does not matter if the file has been published somewhere else. It is relevant if someone publish it as GFDL somewhere and then someone else copy it to a Wikimedia project.
Anyway if uploader gave no indications that it was published somewhere else first then we have no way to know. Just as we have no way to know if uploader is really the photographer. But it is not how the license migration was done originally on Commons (or English Wikipedia) so if you are right that there is a problem then it apply to all files uploaded after November 2008. But as I say we have no way to know unless the uploader specifly say it is published somewhere else first. The only reason I can think of for having two different dates is that it is much harder for someone to find out and opt-out of license migration if file was copied to Commons by someone else than copyright holder. Therefore they need a longer notice.
