Cyber alert in Romania about death scam

Based on information from August 1, 2023, an alert has been issued in Romania regarding a new strategy employed by cybercriminals to manipulate their targets. This strategy revolves around fabricated posts on social media platforms, containing distressing content that announces the tragic demise of individuals in harrowing scenarios. Whether these involve accidents on the road or natural calamities, these counterfeit notifications are crafted to captivate users and entice them into accessing the provided information.

However, concealed within these posts are either hyperlinks leading to deceitful or malicious websites, or articles and video clips for which they seek to artificially inflate the view count. A message posted on Facebook by representatives of the DNSC (National Cybersecurity and Incident Response Center) underscores the fact that hackers utilize compromised or counterfeit accounts to propagate their messages.
