Today is National Indigenous People's Day and the Summer Solstice 🌞 I was preparing a post for Dumbo Octopus Consulting on how important today is and how we always do our best to apply a decolonial/anti-oppression framework to our work. But I found myself pausing. I'm personally so tired of empty statements related to equity, diversity, and inclusion and days of recognition. They do not feel meaningful to me because I know they are not actually doing anything to shift power away from the colonial state. So instead, here are some of my favourite Indigenous resources that Alicia Langill and I draw from for our consulting work: Arthur Manuel's Unsettling Canada: https://lnkd.in/gstu9yEB Rehearsals for Living by Robyn Maynard and Leanne Betasamosake Simpson: https://lnkd.in/gGrwAbET Pretendians (Podcast) by Robert Jago and Angel Ellis https://lnkd.in/gdMMz6Db Unreconciled by Jesse Wente: https://lnkd.in/g6rqzMSp Media Indigena (Podcast): https://mediaindigena.com/ True Reconciliation: How To Be A Force For Change by Jody Wilson-Raybould Indigenous Writes: A Guide to First Nations, Métis, & Inuit Issues in Canada by Chelsea Vowel Mary Two-Axe Earley: I Am Indian Again (film): https://lnkd.in/gpK92yTA. Today and everyday, may we read, listen to, and learn from Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island. This is their land, and I am lucky to live here🍓
