Antique Moonstone Pearl Gold Ring - 333 -8ct

Stunning antique cabochon moonstone pearl ring. A deeply lustrous Moonstone is set in a simple gold border, surrounded by a ring of antique pearls. The antique pearls are a dark creamy to silvery grey colour. The lustrous moonstone varies from a misty pale silvery grey through to a dreamy dark misty grey, and set against the pearls, they make a lovely combination. The moonstone has natural inclusions, as is usual with a natural moonstone. The pearls are all original, except maybe the silvery grey pearl, would could be a later replacement. The pearls look slightly timeworn, as I guess you would expect from a ring of this age. One pearl is slightly missing some nacre, all of the others are intact. They are all firmly set, as is the cabochon moonstone. The antique ring is in a good condition.The gold band is good and strong, and is marked 333 for 8ct gold and the anchor mark for Birmingham. In Victorian times, some rings and jewellery were made at just under our English standard of 9ct gold, this was quite normal at the time, and produced a stronger ring. The moonstone is supposed to bring the wearer good luck in Eastern Cultures and in India a sacred stone. The power of the moonstone is also supposed to bring about positivity in one's life, bringing success in business matters. The stone is regarded as a great gift for lovers as it's supposed to arouse love and passion. It is believed in Ancient history that Romans thought moonstone rocks were made of droplets of moonlight and they each contained an image of the Moon Goddess Diana, who would bring them love, victory, wisdom, and wealth.
