The youth is the future. At LLBG, we are keen on giving back to our community, and we get even more enthusiastic when our community projects involve youngsters. That’s why we’re so proud of the new Habbekrats VZW house near our headquarters in Stad Ninove, that was opened with support of LLBG. A warm meeting place for all youngsters, especially those in need of a safe haven. We’ll soon be setting up an ‘Atelier La Lorraine’ project for the Habbekrats youngsters, including an inspiring workshop week and a bakery corner, contributing to their education and increasing their future prospects. Last weekend marked the International Day of Awareness of Food Waste. At LLBG, we commit to a zero food waste mentality, a top priority in our sustainability plan 🌎. What this means, is that we want to bake more while wasting less.    🥖 We strive to reduce our internal food waste to the absolute minimum, through improved efficiency and innovation.    🍩We reuse our surplus dough and ingredients within our production process, without making quality trade-offs.     🥐 For the food waste we can’t avoid, we go for the best possible valorization. While 99.9% of our food waste is diverted for animal feed, food donations and bio-gasification, we know we can do better when it comes to valorization for human consumption.     Find out what Sebastian Vermeulen has to say about our food waste reduction & valorization strategy.     #llbg #bakingabetterworldtogether #sustainability

At an award show on Thursday 26 September at the Wintercircus in Ghent, the winners of the 23rd edition of the Vlerick Business School Awards were announced in the presence of numerous business leaders and alumni. And the ‘Vlerick Enterprising Leader Award’ went to… our Group CEO Guido Vanherpe! 🏆 It is a tribute to a business leader and Vlerick alumnus with a convincing track record in the areas of leadership and entrepreneurship, and whose company has a positive impact on society and has grown into a major player in a sustainable way. Guido Vanherpe, Group CEO La Lorraine Bakery Group: “I am very proud and truly honoured to have won the ‘Enterprising Leadership Award’. Winning a leadership award is one thing, winning an enterprising leadership award personally touches me deeply. In a fast growing company, becoming bigger while maintaining an entrepreneurial spirit, is key for long lasting success. Keeping the flame of entrepreneurship awake gives me a lot of energy, but it also keeps me awake at night as one always needs to go for the last mile. I try to lead with a focus on the frontline, close to the employees, to our products, and our customers. The collaboration with Vlerick helps me and many LLBG entrepreneurs to connect strategy and action in an entrepreneurial way. Embedding sustainability in our strategy is the next challenge, it’s about sustainable growth and above all about creating a significant positive impact on the world and humanity. That’s the legacy I want to leave to the future generations.”

Let’s roll! 🫓 La Lorraine Bakery Group officially opened a brand new, state-of-the-art ‘soft bun’ production line in our headquarters in Ninove. The bakery site is specialized in soft buns & rolls, a highly popular product category both in retail and foodservice channels. The line was opened in the presence of our LLBG Executive Committee, the mayor of Ninove, city representatives, the press and many colleagues who rolled up their sleeves to deliver this project. All guests got a taste of our hero bun product in delicious recipes from LLBG chef Benoit! By investing in an additional soft bun line, LLBG creates: ✅ Extra capacity – opening opportunities to export to foreign countries ✅ Extra features – such as slicing & sprinkling the buns ✅ Extra jobs – confirming our status as one of the biggest employers in the East Flanders region #llbg #softbun #ninove #bakingabetterworldtogether

Our pastry chefs proudly present… freshly baked and beautifully decorated fruit cakes, in honor of our fellow townswoman Man-Kei To (named ‘Kiki’), who won 4th place in wheelchair badminton at the #Paralympics in #Paris. For the celebration at the townhall near our headquarters in Ninove (Belgium), our local pastry division let their creativity loose: check out the Olympic fruit rings, personalized texts and chocolate fantasies in the shape of a badminton racket & feather!   Family, friends, local officials, press and of course our colleagues too, all together had a piece of the tasty cake. Congratulations to Luc, Hans, Astrid and the team. And congrats to Kiki for her performance and impressive track record in G-badminton!

Paniflower, our milling division, is on a mission to reduce the environmental impact of its wheat flour. Together with BAT Agrar GmbH & Co. KG and Paulig Group, Paniflower is helping German farmers to adopt innovative and sustainable farming techniques. The result? 35.000 tons of regenerative wheat that Paniflower will be processing into high quality flour in the next three years, reducing the carbon footprint of Paulig’s tortillas up to 35%. The first lower-carbon tortillas will be available to European consumers in 2025. Bread that nourishes both you and the earth? 🍞 Our artisanal ‘Rustik’ breads, available at Delhaize, are now made from Belgian regenerative flour.   "What does that mean?" Glad you asked. Regenerative agriculture involves sustainable farming practices such as fewer synthetic fertilizers, more cover crops and minimal tillage. The result is healthier soil, increased biodiversity and a significant reduction in carbon emissions (up to 40% for our ‘Rustik’ breads!) 🌎   Our partner Arvesta is guiding Belgian farmers in the transition to regenerative agriculture, while Delhaize Belgium is bringing these breads to your table 🤝 Together, as La Lorraine Bakery Group, Delhaize and Arvesta, we're making sustainable choices easier and tastier for everyone, one bread loaf at a time.   Check out our video and press release to discover the full story behind our ‘Rustik’ breads: https://lnkd.in/eN8sicxy #llbg #bakingabetterworldtogether #regenerativeagriculture

LLBG’s net-zero targets have been approved by SBTi!    We know the world must reach #NetZero no later than 2050 and we want to play our part in the transition to a low-carbon economy. We are proud to have our net-zero targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, aligning with a #NetZero future and committing to what science says is necessary to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Guido Vanherpe, Group CEO LLBG: “As a leading bakery company, we want to demonstrate leadership in the transition to a low-carbon economy, even if this requires fundamental changes to our operations and sourcing strategy. While the SBTi roadmap is extremely challenging, especially for a growing company, it provides a clear roadmap and gives us confidence that we are doing what science says is necessary to limit global warming.” Read more about our SBTi targets in our press release on https://lnkd.in/ei4uxWZg #llbg #bakingabetterworldtogether #SBTi #NetZeroStandard
