Our very own dynamic duo, Zenith Media Australia Chief Investment Officer Elizabeth Baker and Publicis Media Exchange (PMX) CEO Anthony Ellis reflect on the memorable moments of more than 20 years working side-by-side, 17 of those at Zenith Media. "We just really trust each other. Because we’ve worked together for so long, a lot of it closely, he really did feel like my work-husband at times. That kind of bickering relationship. But I think by challenging each other, we always got to a better place from the banter," says Elizabeth.

Today at our Sydney office we were joined by Two Doting Dads podcast hosts, Matty J and Ash, for an honest discussion on breaking the stigma of talking about mental health, as well as the ups and downs of their experience as parents. Hosted by Jonny Cordony, MD of Zenith Media Australia in Sydney, the session covered the importance of sharing your own vulnerabilities with other people to help them open up, as well as ensuring you have the time to properly listen when you ask people if they're ok. With so many busy parents listening in and laughing at the shared demands of parenthood, Matty J and Ash offered some of the insights from their new book 'Two Doting Dads: The Quest for Free Time', including the importance of trying to be 100% present with their kids and carving out time to do the things that they might not love, but bring their children joy. Thank you to our partners at ARN, and to Matt Johnson and Ash for sharing your pearls of wisdom and making us laugh on a Monday morning.

We are delighted to support today’s launch of the Australian chapter of Ad Net Zero, alongside the AANA - Australian Association of National Advertisers, Advertising Council Australia (ACA), Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), the Media Federation of Australia (MFA) and our fellow foundation supporters from across the industry. Speaking at this morning’s launch event, Publicis Groupe ANZ CEO Michael Rebelo lauded the cross-industry effort to accelerate the decarbonisation of the advertising and marketing industry. “Ad Net Zero is a mid-to-long-term plan and we need that consistency across the industry to help us stay that course and keep democratising the information, the tools, and the measurement practices, but also a bit of that competitive spirit that we have in here as well. "Competitive spirit is great. It’s what fuels and is the lifeblood of this industry. But this is not about how we create competitive advantage, it’s about creating a planet advantage."

"What we do in the realm of creativity can indeed matter. It has the potential not only to positively impact business growth but also contribute to the betterment of humankind. "It’s time to re-centre, with the impactful marketers in the world knowing that to achieve exponential growth, a brand needs to have purpose – it’s not negotiable. Brand purpose is the fundamental reason a business operates. It is a commitment to making a positive impact and, in turn, business growth impact." Managing Director of Publicis Worldwide Australia Simone Waugh writes for The Australian, highlighting the need for businesses to think beyond short-term 'sugar-hits' to create brand acts with real, lasting impact for both business and humanity. And that’s a wrap on #SXSWSydney 2024! Ending the week with a bang, day five saw several big names step onto the various stages, including Aussies Luke Hemsworth, Courtney Act and Grace Tame. This was alongside a packed schedule of talks that sparked creativity, curiosity and some serious critical thinking. Here were two of our standouts: In The Lies We Live By: Question How You Think, Susan Coghill, CMO of Tourism Australia; Rob Galluzzo, CEO of Finch; Justin Papps Partner at Sayers Group; and Camilla Mazzaferro, MD & Producer at Songbird Studios debated the accepted truths that are ingrained in our language and society, sharing how their experiences both prove and disprove them. They talked about the need for curiosity and action to create adventure, and how taking big risks is all about balancing logic with magic. Meanwhile, have you ever wondered what it would be like to holiday on another planet? In a fun and engaging chat, Benjamin Montet, Senior Lecturer at UNSW; Melissa Ness, Professor at The Australian National University and Sven Buder, DECRA Fellow at ANU offered insights into the often harsh realities of planets outside our own, providing newfound appreciation for our beautiful home on Earth. Well done again to all our Publicis people who hosted or appeared on panels this week. It’s been an incredibly enjoyable and inspiring experience, and we look forward to next year!

The sun finally revealed itself for day four at SXSW Sydney, and attendees got a strong dose of inspiration and creativity. Here are some of our highlights from yesterday: In a podcast session hosted by The Daily Aus Co-Founder Sam Koslowski ☕️ and Editor Emma Gillespie, they explored the role of journalism in this year's US Presidential election and how younger generations were responding to the campaigns. Analysing the strategies of brand Harris and brand Trump, they discussed how both candidates are appealing to young voters and trying to swing undecided voters. They also explored the evolving role of traditional media in the campaigns. A fireside chat with Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios and Co-Founder of FUZE Technology Ryan Levy, saw Kyrgios talk candidly about his journey to self-acceptance and authenticity and how the support of his closest circle has been vital to his success. He conveyed his passion for philanthropy, which is now a huge motivator and left audiences with the news that he will be returning to the Australian Open this year with high hopes to win on home soil. ABC Radio Presenter and host of This Working Life, 🎤 Lisa Leong, hosted an insightful conversation with organisational psychologist Amantha Imber and Xero Global Director of Wellbeing Lucas Finch on how to maximise your physical, emotional and cognitive energy to get the most out of your workday. The trio offered several actionable tips and tricks on how to build, spend and transform your energy to bring intentionality to the workday and use your time effectively. Our last day at SXSW Sydney promises to be a good one! #SXSWSydney

Together with GWS Giants player Nicola Barr, Sports Environment Alliance Co-Founder Sheila N. Nguyen, and former CEO of FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Organising Committee Melissa King, the session explored the ways the $32.2 billion sports sector can respond to the rise in extreme weather events and offered insightful advice on how advocates can speak the language of the board room to affect real change. #SXSWSydney
