Green politician. Diplomat. Peace negotiater. Promoter of sustainable investments. Inspirational speaker on green business and politics, peace, development and geopolitics.

Inspiring to discuss green urban develoopment on world city day. There is no more fitting place to discuss green city development than Shanghai. It was exciting to attend the Impact X event discussion green city planning, effective public transport, urban forests and parks, clean cities, green buildings and more. Many city developers and planners attended. First time I visited Shanghai (in 1984) there were no skyscrapers, no metro and no private cars. Most people wore the most boring of clothes and basically had noodles and rice for meals. It was a very poor city. 40 years later Shanghai may be the most modern city in the world. Its also a green city with numerous parks and many trees. Shanghai runs the worlds largest metro network and is piloting modern waste management. Pollution is largely defeated and traffic is very silent since buses, taxis, scooters and half of new cars are electric. But Shanghai will not stop here. Ambitions are great for an even greener and more people friendly city. I was pleased to share good practices from other great cities in China, Europe, India and more. Australia’s urgent path to 🥦 net zero in agriculture 🐮 . Download the Summary Climate Change Authority’s Sector Pathways Review report from the Impact X website 💡 Quote from the report: Australia’s transition to net zero is “necessary, inevitable, and urgent”. We must accelerate deployment of existing technologies as any delays will put emissions reduction goals at risk. Livestock, which contributes over half the sector’s emissions, will require a change in farming practices, improving protein production and integrating regenerative agriculture.   The report calls for increased research and development, greater adoption of reforestation and carbon farming, and reducing emissions in other areas.
