Our Spotlight on Construction event series has come to a close, sparking in-depth discussions across the industry on some of the most pressing issues facing the construction sector. Following our initial boardroom lunch with economist Lee Cikuts, we ran four insight webinars on the latest issues in arbitration, the adaptive reuse of standard commercial office assets, expert evidence and decennial liability insurance. We concluded with a final boardroom lunch focused on financing, contracting and connecting renewable energy assets with Dr Cameron Kelly – a crucial area as we look to the future of sustainable infrastructure. We look forward to continuing to support and engage with the construction industry through ongoing insights and resources. #spotlightonconstruction #construction #infrastructure

We were privileged to host ActionAid Australia’s 15th-anniversary celebration, bringing together supporters to recognise the powerful impact it has made around the world. Our longstanding relationship with ActionAid Australia has offered us the opportunity to learn about its mission to empower women, champion human rights and fight poverty on a global scale. It was inspiring to reflect on its achievements and ongoing work to promote equality through an intersectional feminist lens. Congratulations on 15 years of meaningful change and commitment to a more just world. #celebration #humanrights #womensrights

We hosted a networking event in Sydney to support our partners and senior lawyers in building stronger connections with talented women barristers. Led by partner Jennifer Degotardi, the event featured a powerful keynote by author, journalist and social justice advocate Tracey Spicer AM GAICD. Tracey shared insights from her book, ‘Man-Made: How the bias of the past is being built into the future’, sparking critical conversations around gender and bias. We're committed to the Gender Equitable Briefing Policy, which drives our dedication to advancing diversity within the legal profession and creating a more representative court system. This includes briefing senior and junior women barristers in at least 50% of all briefs and ensuring they represent at least 50% of the value of all brief fees paid. As we continue to foster these important connections, we remain focused on helping shape a legal profession that values diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity for all. #genderequity #diversityinlaw #barristers

Our clients had the chance to learn from other board members and executives at our immersive ‘Boardroom Hypothetical’ event designed for boards and senior leaders, held in our Sydney office. The compelling format invited clients to join a mock board and connect with industry peers to develop a strategy to respond to current issues in the boardroom. Each board was presented with a hypothetical scenario requiring participants to share their unique skills and experience to agree on the next steps in an allocated time frame. The scenarios were led by our experts – Fay Calderone (Psychosocial), John Gray (AI), Eden Winokur (Cyber) – and the session was hosted and facilitated by Suzie Leask GAICD, FGIA. Read some of the client feedback below. We will host more of these events in other offices next year to help our clients stay up to date with risk management, as board risk issues continue to evolve.
