Integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) has emerged as a transformative paradigm for next-generation wireless systems. In this paper, we present a novel ISAC scheme that leverages the diffusion Schrodinger bridge (DSB) to realize the sensing of electromagnetic (EM) property of a target as well as the reconstruction of the wireless channel. The DSB framework connects EM property sensing and channel reconstruction by establishing a bidirectional process: the forward process transforms the distribution of EM property into the channel distribution, while the reverse process reconstructs the EM property from the channel. To handle the difference in dimensionality between the high-dimensional sensing channel and the lower-dimensional EM property, we generate latent representations using an autoencoder network. The autoencoder compresses the sensing channel into a latent space that retains essential features, which incorporates positional embeddings to process spatial context. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed DSB framework, which achieves superior reconstruction of the targets shape, relative permittivity, and conductivity. Moreover, the proposed method can also realize high-fidelity channel reconstruction given the EM property of the target. The dual capability of accurately sensing the EM property and reconstructing the channel across various positions within the sensing area underscores the versatility and potential of the proposed approach for broad application in future ISAC systems.

The current integrated sensing, communication, and computing (ISCC) systems face significant challenges in both efficiency and resource utilization. To tackle these issues, we propose a novel fluid antenna (FA)-enabled ISCC system, specifically designed for vehicular networks. We develop detailed models for the communication and sensing processes to support this architecture. An integrated latency optimization problem is formulated to jointly optimize computing resources, receive combining matrices, and antenna positions. To tackle this complex problem, we decompose it into three sub-problems and analyze each separately. A mixed optimization algorithm is then designed to address the overall problem comprehensively. Numerical results demonstrate the rapid convergence of the proposed algorithm. Compared with baseline schemes, the FA-enabled vehicle ISCC system significantly improves resource utilization and reduces latency for communication, sensing, and computation.

The increasing adoption of neural networks in learning-augmented systems highlights the importance of model safety and robustness, particularly in safety-critical domains. Despite progress in the formal verification of neural networks, current practices require users to manually define model specifications -- properties that dictate expected model behavior in various scenarios. This manual process, however, is prone to human error, limited in scope, and time-consuming. In this paper, we introduce AutoSpec, the first framework to automatically generate comprehensive and accurate specifications for neural networks in learning-augmented systems. We also propose the first set of metrics for assessing the accuracy and coverage of model specifications, establishing a benchmark for future comparisons. Our evaluation across four distinct applications shows that AutoSpec outperforms human-defined specifications as well as two baseline approaches introduced in this study.

The absence of a well-defined equilibrium reference configuration and the inevitable frequent atomic rearrangements have long obstructed the achievement of a complete atomic-level understanding of liquid dynamics and properties, a challenge that continues to be unresolved. The instantaneous normal mode (INM) approach, based on the diagonalization of the potential energy Hessian matrix in instantaneous liquid configurations, has been shown to be a promising starting point to predict thermodynamic and dynamical properties of liquids but presents several conceptual difficulties that remain to be addressed. More in general, due to the inability of capturing anharmonic effects, what INMs can tell us about liquid dynamics remains an open question. In this work, we provide a general set of ``experimental facts'' by performing a comprehensive INM analysis of several simulated systems, including Ar, Xe, N$_2$, CS$_2$, Ga and Pb, in a large range of temperatures from the solid to the gas phase. We first study the INM density of states (DOS) and compare it to the density of state function obtained from the velocity auto-correlation function. Secondly, we analyze the temperature dependence of the fraction of unstable modes and of the low-frequency slope of the INM DOS, in search of possible universal behaviors. We then explore the connection between INMs and other properties of liquids including the liquid-like to gas-like dynamical crossover and the momentum gap of collective shear waves. Moreover, we investigate the INM spectrum at low temperature upon approaching the solid phase, revealing the existence of a large fraction of unstable modes also in crystalline solids. Finally, we verify the existence of a recently discussed cusp-like singularity in the INM eigenvalue spectrum and reveal its complex behavior upon dialing temperature that challenges the existing theoretical models.

The transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) with a 1T' structural phase are predicted to be two-dimensional topological insulators at zero temperature. Although the quantized edge conductance of 1T'-WTe$_2$ has been confirmed to survive up to 100 K, this temperature is still relatively low for industrial applications. Addressing the limited studies on temperature effects in 1T'-TMDCs, our research focuses on the electronic and crystal properties of the epitaxial 1T'-WSe$_2$ monolayers grown on bilayer graphene (BLG) and SrTiO$_3$(100) substrates at various temperatures. For the 1T'-WSe$_2$ grown on BLG, we observed a significant thermal expansion effect on its band structures with a thermal expansion coefficient of $\sim$60$\times$10$^{-6}$ K$^{-1}$. In contrast, the 1T'-WSe$_2$ grown on SrTiO$_3$(100) exhibits minimal changes with varied temperatures due to the enhanced strain exerted by the substrate. Besides, A significant Coulomb gap (CG) was observed pinned at the Fermi level in the angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS). The CG was founded to decrease with increasing temperatures, and can persist up to 200 K for 1T'-WSe$_2$/BLG, consistent with our Monte Carlo simulations. The robustness of the CG and the positive fundamental gap endow the epitaxial 1T'-WSe$_2$ monolayers with huge potential for realizing the quantum spin Hall devices.

Cooperative perception, offering a wider field of view than standalone perception, is becoming increasingly crucial in autonomous driving. This perception is enabled through vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, allowing connected automated vehicles (CAVs) to exchange sensor data, such as light detection and ranging (LiDAR) point clouds, thereby enhancing the collective understanding of the environment. In this paper, we leverage an importance map to distill critical semantic information, introducing a cooperative perception semantic communication framework that employs intermediate fusion. To counter the challenges posed by time-varying multipath fading, our approach incorporates the use of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) along with channel estimation and equalization strategies. Furthermore, recognizing the necessity for reliable transmission, especially in the low SNR scenarios, we introduce a novel semantic error detection method that is integrated with our semantic communication framework in the spirit of hybrid automatic repeated request (HARQ). Simulation results show that our model surpasses the traditional separate source-channel coding methods in perception performance, both with and without HARQ. Additionally, in terms of throughput, our proposed HARQ schemes demonstrate superior efficiency to the conventional coding approaches.

In the realm of reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted communication systems, the connection between a base station (BS) and user equipment (UE) is formed by a cascaded channel, merging the BS-RIS and RIS-UE channels. Due to the fixed positioning of the BS and RIS and the mobility of UE, these two channels generally exhibit different time-varying characteristics, which are challenging to identify and exploit for feedback overhead reduction, given the separate channel estimation difficulty. To address this challenge, this letter introduces an innovative deep learning-based framework tailored for cascaded channel feedback, ingeniously capturing the intrinsic time variation in the cascaded channel. When an entire cascaded channel has been sent to the BS, this framework advocates the feedback of an efficient representation of this variation within a subsequent period through an extraction-compression scheme. This scheme involves RIS unit-grained channel variation extraction, followed by autoencoder-based deep compression to enhance compactness. Numerical simulations confirm that this feedback framework significantly reduces both the feedback and computational burdens.

Energy band theory is a foundational framework in condensed matter physics. In this work, we employ a deep learning method, BNAS, to find a direct correlation between electronic band structure and superconducting transition temperature. Our findings suggest that electronic band structures can act as primary indicators of superconductivity. To avoid overfitting, we utilize a relatively simple deep learning neural network model, which, despite its simplicity, demonstrates predictive capabilities for superconducting properties. By leveraging the attention mechanism within deep learning, we are able to identify specific regions of the electronic band structure most correlated with superconductivity. This novel approach provides new insights into the mechanisms driving superconductivity from an alternative perspective. Moreover, we predict several potential superconductors that may serve as candidates for future experimental synthesis.

Although there is a report that the 1949 activity is associated with an ion tail, the cause of the activity has not yet been identified. Aims. This work aims to reveal the mysterious comet-like activity of the near-Earth asteroid. Methods. We conducted new polarimetric observations of WH from May 2022 to January 2023, reanalyses of the photographic plate images taken at the time of its discovery in 1949, and dust tail simulation modelings, where the dust terminal velocity and ejection epoch are taken into account. Results. We found that this object shows polarization characteristics similar to those of low-albedo asteroids. We derived the geometric albedo ranging from pV = 0.076 +- 0.010 to pV = 0.094 +- 0.018 from our polarimetry (the values vary depending on the data used for fitting and the slope-albedo relationship coefficients). In addition, the 1949 image showed an increase in brightness around the nucleus. Furthermore, we found that the color of the tail is consistent with sunlight, suggesting that the 1949 activity is associated with dust ejection. From the dust tail analysis, ~9 x 10^5 kg of material was ejected episodically at a low velocity equivalent to or even slower than the escape velocity. Conclusions. We conclude that WH is most likely an active asteroid of main belt origin and that the activity in 1949 was likely triggered by mass shedding due to fast rotation.

Large-scale scientific simulations generate massive datasets that pose significant challenges for storage and I/O. While traditional lossy compression techniques can improve performance, balancing compression ratio, data quality, and throughput remains difficult. To address this, we propose NeurLZ, a novel cross-field learning-based and error-controlled compression framework for scientific data. By integrating skipping DNN models, cross-field learning, and error control, our framework aims to substantially enhance lossy compression performance. Our contributions are three-fold: (1) We design a lightweight skipping model to provide high-fidelity detail retention, further improving prediction accuracy. (2) We adopt a cross-field learning approach to significantly improve data prediction accuracy, resulting in a substantially improved compression ratio. (3) We develop an error control approach to provide strict error bounds according to user requirements. We evaluated NeurLZ on several real-world HPC application datasets, including Nyx (cosmological simulation), Miranda (large turbulence simulation), and Hurricane (weather simulation). Experiments demonstrate that our framework achieves up to a 90% relative reduction in bit rate under the same data distortion, compared to the best existing approach.

Accurate crystal structure determination is critical across all scientific disciplines involving crystalline materials. However, solving and refining inorganic crystal structures from powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) data is traditionally a labor-intensive and time-consuming process that demands substantial expertise. In this work, we introduce PXRDGen, an end-to-end neural network that determines crystal structures by learning joint structural distributions from experimentally stable crystals and their PXRD, producing atomically accurate structures refined through PXRD data. PXRDGen integrates a pretrained XRD encoder, a diffusion/flow-based structure generator, and a Rietveld refinement module, enabling the solution of structures with unparalleled accuracy in a matter of seconds. Evaluation on MP-20 inorganic dataset reveals a remarkable matching rate of 82% (1 sample) and 96% (20 samples) for valid compounds, with Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) approaching the precision limits of Rietveld refinement. PXRDGen effectively tackles key challenges in XRD, such as the precise localization of light atoms, differentiation of neighboring elements, and resolution of overlapping peaks. Overall, PXRDGen marks a significant advancement in the automated determination of crystal structures from powder diffraction data.

The integration with artificial intelligence (AI) is recognized as one of the six usage scenarios in next-generation wireless communications. However, several critical challenges hinder the widespread application of deep learning (DL) techniques in wireless communications. In particular, existing DL-based wireless communications struggle to adapt to the rapidly changing wireless environments. In this paper, we discuss fast adaptation for DL-based wireless communications by using few-shot learning (FSL) techniques. We first identify the differences between fast adaptation in wireless communications and traditional AI tasks by highlighting two distinct FSL design requirements for wireless communications. To establish a wide perspective, we present a comprehensive review of the existing FSL techniques in wireless communications that satisfy these two design requirements. In particular, we emphasize the importance of applying domain knowledge in achieving fast adaptation. We specifically focus on multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) precoding as an examples to demonstrate the advantages of the FSL to achieve fast adaptation in wireless communications. Finally, we highlight several open research issues for achieving broadscope future deployment of fast adaptive DL in wireless communication applications.

The communication-assisted sensing (CAS) systems are expected to endow the users with beyond-line-of-sight sensing capabilities without the aid of additional sensors. In this paper, we study the dual-functional signaling strategy, focusing on three primary aspects, namely, the information-theoretic framework, the optimal distribution of channel input, and the optimal waveform design for Gaussian signals. First, we establish the information-theoretic framework and develop a modified source-channel separation theorem (MSST) tailored for CAS systems. The proposed MSST elucidates the relationship between achievable distortion, coding rate, and communication channel capacity in cases where the distortion metric is separable for sensing and communication (S\&C) processes. Second, we present an optimal channel input design for dual-functional signaling, which aims to minimize total distortion under the constraints of the MSST and resource budget. We then conceive a two-step Blahut-Arimoto (BA)-based optimal search algorithm to numerically solve the functional optimization problem. Third, in light of the current signaling strategy, we further propose an optimal waveform design for Gaussian signaling in multi-input multi-output (MIMO) CAS systems. The associated covariance matrix optimization problem is addressed using a successive convex approximation (SCA)-based waveform design algorithm. Finally, we provide numerical simulation results to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms and to show the unique performance tradeoff between S\&C processes.

Open-vocabulary segmentation poses significant challenges, as it requires segmenting and recognizing objects across an open set of categories in unconstrained environments. Building on the success of powerful vision-language (ViL) foundation models, such as CLIP, recent efforts sought to harness their zero-short capabilities to recognize unseen categories. Despite notable performance improvements, these models still encounter the critical issue of generating precise mask proposals for unseen categories and scenarios, resulting in inferior segmentation performance eventually. To address this challenge, we introduce a novel approach, FrozenSeg, designed to integrate spatial knowledge from a localization foundation model (e.g., SAM) and semantic knowledge extracted from a ViL model (e.g., CLIP), in a synergistic framework. Taking the ViL model's visual encoder as the feature backbone, we inject the space-aware feature into the learnable queries and CLIP features within the transformer decoder. In addition, we devise a mask proposal ensemble strategy for further improving the recall rate and mask quality. To fully exploit pre-trained knowledge while minimizing training overhead, we freeze both foundation models, focusing optimization efforts solely on a lightweight transformer decoder for mask proposal generation-the performance bottleneck. Extensive experiments demonstrate that FrozenSeg advances state-of-the-art results across various segmentation benchmarks, trained exclusively on COCO panoptic data, and tested in a zero-shot manner. Code is available at https://github.com/chenxi52/FrozenSeg.

Using $7.9~\rm{fb^{-1}}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the effective flavor-changing neutral current coupling of $cuγ'$ in $D^0\toωγ'$ and $D^0\toγγ'$ processes to search for the massless dark photon. No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the massless dark photon branching fraction are set to be $1.1\times10^{-5}$ and $2.0\times10^{-6}$ for $D^0\toωγ'$ and $D^0\toγγ'$, respectively. These results provide the most stringent constraint on the new physics energy scale associated with $cuγ'$ coupling in the world, with the new physics energy scale related parameter $|\mathbb{C}|^2+|\mathbb{C}_5|^2<8.2\times10^{-17}~\rm{GeV}^{-2}$ at the 90% confidence level, playing a unique role in the dark sector search with the charm sector.

Text-attributed graph (TAG) is an important type of graph structured data with text descriptions for each node. Few- and zero-shot node classification on TAGs have many applications in fields such as academia and social networks. However, the two tasks are challenging due to the lack of supervision signals, and existing methods only use the contrastive loss to align graph-based node embedding and language-based text embedding. In this paper, we propose Hound to improve accuracy by introducing more supervision signals, and the core idea is to go beyond the node-text pairs that come with data. Specifically, we design three augmentation techniques, i.e., node perturbation, text matching, and semantics negation to provide more reference nodes for each text and vice versa. Node perturbation adds/drops edges to produce diversified node embeddings that can be matched with a text. Text matching retrieves texts with similar embeddings to match with a node. Semantics negation uses a negative prompt to construct a negative text with the opposite semantics, which is contrasted with the original node and text. We evaluate Hound on 5 datasets and compare with 13 state-of-the-art baselines. The results show that Hound consistently outperforms all baselines, and its accuracy improvements over the best-performing baseline are usually over 5%.

In this Letter, a systematic study of the weak radiative hyperon decay $Ξ^{0}\toΛγ$ at an electron-positron collider using entangled $Ξ^{0}\barΞ^{0}$ pair events is presented. The absolute branching fraction for this decay has been measured for the first time, and is $\left(1.347 \pm 0.066_{\mathrm stat.}\pm0.054_{\mathrm syst.}\right)\times 10^{-3}$. The decay asymmetry parameter, which characterizes the effect of parity violation in the decay, is determined to be $-0.741 \pm 0.062_{\mathrm stat.}\pm 0.019_{\mathrm syst.}$. The obtained results are consistent with the world average values within the uncertainties, offering valuable insights into the underlying mechanism governing the weak radiative hyperon decays. The charge conjugation parity ($CP$) symmetries of branching fraction and decay asymmetry parameter in the decay are also studied. No statistically significant violation of charge conjugation parity symmetry is observed.

The study exploits a sample of quantum-correlated $D\bar{D}$ mesons collected by the BESIII experiment in $e^+e^-$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93~fb$^{-1}$. Here, $D$ denotes a neutral charm meson in a superposition of flavor eigenstates. The reported results are valuable for measurements of the $C\!P$-violating phase $γ$ (also denoted $φ_3$) in $B^\pm \to DK^\pm$, $D \to π^+π^-π^+π^-$ decays, and the binning schemes are designed to provide good statistical sensitivity to this parameter. The expected uncertainty on $γ$ arising from the precision of the strong-phase measurements, when applied to very large samples of $B$-meson decays, is around $1.5^\circ$ or $2^\circ$, depending on the binning scheme. The binned strong-phase parameters are combined to give a value of $F_+^{4π} = 0.746 \pm 0.010 \pm 0.004$ for the $C\!P$-even fraction of $D^0 \to π^+π^-π^+π^-$ decays, which is around 30\% more precise than the previous best measurement of this quantity.

In this paper, we consider a radio resource management (RRM) problem in the dynamic wireless networks, comprising multiple communication links that share the same spectrum resource. To achieve high network throughput while ensuring fairness across all links, we formulate a resilient power optimization problem with per-user minimum-rate constraints. We obtain the corresponding Lagrangian dual problem and parameterize all variables with neural networks, which can be trained in an unsupervised manner due to the provably acceptable duality gap. We develop a meta-learning approach with graph neural networks (GNNs) as parameterization that exhibits fast adaptation and scalability to varying network configurations. We formulate the objective of meta-learning by amalgamating the Lagrangian functions of different network configurations and utilize a first-order meta-learning algorithm, called Reptile, to obtain the meta-parameters. Numerical results verify that our method can efficiently improve the overall throughput and ensure the minimum rate performance. We further demonstrate that using the meta-parameters as initialization, our method can achieve fast adaptation to new wireless network configurations and reduce the number of required training data samples.

As an emerging technology, digital twin (DT) can provide real-time status and dynamic topology mapping for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. However, DT and its implementation within industrial IoT networks necessitates substantial, distributed data support, which often leads to ``data silos'' and raises privacy concerns. To address these issues, we develop a dynamic resource scheduling algorithm tailored for the asynchronous federated learning (FL)-based lightweight DT empowered IoT network. Specifically, our approach aims to minimize a multi-objective function that encompasses both energy consumption and latency by optimizing IoT device selection and transmit power control, subject to FL model performance constraints. We utilize the Lyapunov method to decouple the formulated problem into a series of one-slot optimization problems and develop a two-stage optimization algorithm to achieve the optimal transmission power control and IoT device scheduling strategies. In the first stage, we derive closed-form solutions for optimal transmit power on the IoT device side. In the second stage, since partial state information is unknown, e.g., the transmitting power and computational frequency of IoT device, the edge server employs a multi-armed bandit (MAB) framework to model the IoT device selection problem and utilizes an efficient online algorithm, namely the client utility-based upper confidence bound (CU-UCB), to address it. Numerical results validate our algorithm's superiority over benchmark schemes, and simulations demonstrate that our algorithm achieves faster training speeds on the Fashion-MNIST and CIFAR-10 datasets within the same training duration.

The passive reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) requires numerous elements to achieve adequate array gain, which linearly increases power consumption (PC) with the number of reflection phases. To address this, this letter introduces a rotatable block-controlled RIS (BC-RIS) that preserves spectral efficiency (SE) while reducing power costs. Unlike the element-controlled RIS (EC-RIS), which necessitates independent phase control for each element, the BC-RIS uses a single phase control circuit for each block, substantially lowering power requirements. In the maximum ratio transmission, by customizing specular reflection channels through the rotation of blocks and coherently superimposing signals with optimized reflection phase of blocks, the BC-RIS achieves the same averaged SE as the EC-RIS. To counteract the added power demands from rotation, influenced by block size, we have developed a segmentation scheme to minimize overall PC. Furthermore, constraints for rotation power-related parameters have been established to enhance the energy efficiency of the BC-RIS compared to the EC-RIS. Numerical results confirm that this approach significantly improves energy efficiency while maintaining performance.

In pursuit of enhanced quality of service and higher transmission rates, communication within the mid-band spectrum, such as bands in the 6-15 GHz range, combined with extra large-scale multiple-input multiple-output (XL-MIMO), is considered a potential enabler for future communication systems. However, the characteristics introduced by mid-band XL-MIMO systems pose challenges for channel modeling and performance analysis. In this paper, we first analyze the potential characteristics of mid-band MIMO channels. Then, an analytical channel model incorporating novel channel characteristics is proposed, based on a review of classical analytical channel models. This model is convenient for theoretical analysis and compatible with other analytical channel models. Subsequently, based on the proposed channel model, we analyze key metrics of wireless communication, including the ergodic spectral efficiency (SE) and outage probability (OP) of MIMO maximal-ratio combining systems. Specifically, we derive closed-form approximations and performance bounds for two typical scenarios, aiming to illustrate the influence of mid-band XL-MIMO systems. Finally, comparisons between systems under different practical configurations are carried out through simulations. The theoretical analysis and simulations demonstrate that mid-band XL-MIMO systems excel in SE and OP due to the increased array elements, moderate large-scale fading, and enlarged transmission bandwidth.

Along with the prosperity of generative artificial intelligence (AI), its potential for solving conventional challenges in wireless communications has also surfaced. Inspired by this trend, we investigate the application of the advanced diffusion models (DMs), a representative class of generative AI models, to high dimensional wireless channel estimation. By capturing the structure of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless channels via a deep generative prior encoded by DMs, we develop a novel posterior inference method for channel reconstruction. We further adapt the proposed method to recover channel information from low-resolution quantized measurements. Additionally, to enhance the over-the-air viability, we integrate the DM with the unsupervised Stein's unbiased risk estimator to enable learning from noisy observations and circumvent the requirements for ground truth channel data that is hardly available in practice. Results reveal that the proposed estimator achieves high-fidelity channel recovery while reducing estimation latency by a factor of 10 compared to state-of-the-art schemes, facilitating real-time implementation. Moreover, our method outperforms existing estimators while reducing the pilot overhead by half, showcasing its scalability to ultra-massive antenna arrays.

Device-to-device (D2D) spectrum sharing in wireless communications is a challenging non-convex combinatorial optimization problem, involving entangled link scheduling and power control in a large-scale network. The state-of-the-art methods, either from a model-based or a data-driven perspective, exhibit certain limitations such as the critical need for channel state information (CSI) and/or a large number of (solved) instances (e.g., network layouts) as training samples. To advance this line of research, we propose a novel hybrid model/datadriven spectrum sharing mechanism with graph reinforcement learning for link scheduling (GRLinQ), injecting information theoretical insights into machine learning models, in such a way that link scheduling and power control can be solved in an intelligent yet explainable manner. Through an extensive set of experiments, GRLinQ demonstrates superior performance to the existing model-based and data-driven link scheduling and/or power control methods, with a relaxed requirement for CSI, a substantially reduced number of unsolved instances as training samples, a possible distributed deployment, reduced online/offline computational complexity, and more remarkably excellent scalability and generalizability over different network scenarios and system configurations.

Millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication is promising for next-generation wireless networks but suffers from significant path loss, requiring extensive antenna arrays and frequent beam training. Traditional deep learning models, such as long short-term memory (LSTM), enhance beam tracking accuracy however are limited by poor robustness and generalization. In this letter, we use large language models (LLMs) to improve the robustness of beam prediction. By converting time series data into text-based representations and employing the Prompt-as-Prefix (PaP) technique for contextual enrichment, our approach unleashes the strength of LLMs for time series forecasting. Simulation results demonstrate that our LLM-based method offers superior robustness and generalization compared to LSTM-based models, showcasing the potential of LLMs in wireless communications.

Movable antenna (MA), which can flexibly change the position of antenna in three-dimensional (3D) continuous space, is an emerging technology for achieving full spatial performance gains. In this paper, a prototype of MA communication system with ultra-accurate movement control is presented to verify the performance gain of MA in practical environments. The prototype utilizes the feedback control to ensure that each power measurement is performed after the MA moves to a designated position. The system operates at 3.5 GHz or 27.5 GHz, where the MA moves along a one-dimensional horizontal line with a step size of 0.01λ and in a two-dimensional square region with a step size of 0.05λ, respectively, with λ denoting the signal wavelength. The scenario with mixed line-of-sight (LoS) and non-LoS (NLoS) links is considered. Extensive experimental results are obtained with the designed prototype and compared with the simulation results, which validate the great potential of MA technology in improving wireless communication performance. For example, the maximum variation of measured power reaches over 40 dB and 23 dB at 3.5 GHz and 27.5 GHz, respectively, thanks to the flexible antenna movement. In addition, experimental results indicate that the power gain of MA system relies on the estimated path state information (PSI), including the number of paths, their delays, elevation and azimuth angles of arrival (AoAs), as well as the power ratio of each path.

Evidence of $η_{c}(2S)\toωω$ is found with a statistical significance of $3.2σ$. The branching fraction is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(η_{c}(2S)\toωω)=(5.65\pm3.77(\rm stat.)\pm5.32(\rm syst.))\times10^{-4}$. No statistically significant signal is observed for the decay $η_{c}(2S)\toωφ$. The upper limit of the branching fraction at the 90\% confidence level is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(ψ(2S)\toγη_{c}(2S),η_{c}(2S)\toωφ)<2.24\times 10^{-7}$. We also update the branching fractions of $χ_{cJ}\to ωω$ and $χ_{cJ}\toωφ$ decays via the $ψ(2S)\toγχ_{cJ}$ transition. The branching fractions are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0}\toωω)=(10.63\pm0.11\pm0.46)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c1}\toωω)=(6.39\pm0.07\pm0.29)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2}\toωω)=(8.50\pm0.08\pm0.38)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0}\toωφ)=(1.18\pm0.03\pm0.05)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c1}\toωφ)=(2.03\pm0.15\pm0.12)\times 10^{-5}$, and $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2}\toωφ)=(9.37\pm1.07\pm0.59)\times 10^{-6}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Channel knowledge map (CKM) is a novel approach for achieving environment-aware communication and sensing. This paper presents an integrated sensing and communication (ISAC)-based CKM prototype system, demonstrating the mutualistic relationship between ISAC and CKM. The system consists of an ISAC base station (BS), a user equipment (UE), and a server. By using a shared orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) waveform over the millimeter wave (mmWave) band, the ISAC BS is able to communicate with the UE while simultaneously sensing the environment and acquiring the UE's location. The prototype showcases the complete process of the construction and application of the ISAC-based CKM. For CKM construction phase, the BS stores the UE's channel feedback information in a database indexed by the UE's location, including beam indices and channel gain. For CKM application phase, the BS looks up the best beam index from the CKM based on the UE's location to achieve training-free mmWave beam alignment. The experimental results show that ISAC can be used to construct or update CKM while communicating with UEs, and the pre-learned CKM can assist ISAC for training-free beam alignment.

Recently, Role-Playing Agents (RPAs) have garnered increasing attention for their potential to deliver emotional value and facilitate sociological research. However, existing studies are primarily confined to the textual modality, unable to simulate humans' multimodal perceptual capabilities. To bridge this gap, we introduce the concept of Multimodal Role-Playing Agents (MRPAs), and propose a comprehensive framework, MMRole, for their development and evaluation, which comprises a personalized multimodal dataset and a robust evaluation method. Specifically, we construct a large-scale, high-quality dataset, MMRole-Data, consisting of 85 characters, 11K images, and 14K single or multi-turn dialogues. Additionally, we present a robust evaluation method, MMRole-Eval, encompassing eight metrics across three dimensions, where a reward model is trained to score MRPAs with the constructed ground-truth data for comparison. Moreover, we develop the first specialized MRPA, MMRole-Agent. Extensive evaluation results demonstrate the improved performance of MMRole-Agent and highlight the primary challenges in developing MRPAs, emphasizing the need for enhanced multimodal understanding and role-playing consistency. The data, code, and models will be available at https://github.com/YanqiDai/MMRole.

The $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowγπ^{0}$ cross section is fitted with considering the interference between the $ψ(2S)$ and continuum amplitudes and two solutions are found, ${\cal B}=3.74\times10^{-7}$ with $φ=3.93$ rad and ${\cal B}=7.87\times10^{-7}$ with $φ=2.08$ rad. Here, ${\cal B}$ is the branching fraction of $ψ(2S)\rightarrowγπ^{0}$ and $φ$ is the relative phase angle between the $ψ(2S)$ and continuum amplitudes. Due to insufficient off-resonance data, the branching fraction ${\cal B}(ψ(2S)\rightarrowγπ^{0})$ is determined to be in the range $[2.7, 9.7]\times10^{-7}$ within one standard deviation of the contour region.

The branching fraction of $η_{c}(2S)\to K^{+} K^{-}η$ is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(η_{c}(2S)\to K^{+} K^{-}η) = (3.42 \pm 0.46 \pm 0.48 \pm 2.44) \times 10^{-3}$, where the third uncertainty is due to the branching fraction of $ψ(3686) \to γη_{c}(2S)$. Using a recent BESIII measurement of $\mathcal{B} (η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-}π^{0})$, we also determine the ratio between the branching fractions of $η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-}η$ and $η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-}π^{0}$ to be $1.49 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.25$, which is consistent with the previous result of BaBar at a comparable precision level.

Multiple-input multiple-output has been a key technology for wireless systems for decades. For typical MIMO communication systems, antenna array elements are usually separated by half of the carrier wavelength, thus termed as conventional MIMO. In this paper, we investigate the performance of multi-user MIMO communication, with sparse arrays at both the transmitter and receiver side, i.e., the array elements are separated by more than half wavelength. Given the same number of array elements, the performance of sparse MIMO is compared with conventional MIMO. On one hand, sparse MIMO has a larger aperture, which can achieve narrower main lobe beams that make it easier to resolve densely located users. Besides, increased array aperture also enlarges the near-field communication region, which can enhance the spatial multiplexing gain, thanks to the spherical wavefront property in the near-field region. On the other hand, element spacing larger than half wavelength leads to undesired grating lobes, which, if left unattended, may cause severe inter-user interference. To gain further insights, we first study the spatial multiplexing gain of the basic single-user sparse MIMO communication system, where a closed-form expression of the near-field effective degree of freedom is derived. The result shows that the EDoF increases with the array sparsity for sparse MIMO before reaching its upper bound, which equals to the minimum value between the transmit and receive antenna numbers. Furthermore, the scaling law for the achievable data rate with varying array sparsity is analyzed and an array sparsity-selection strategy is proposed. We then consider the more general multi-user sparse MIMO communication system. It is shown that sparse MIMO is less likely to experience severe IUI than conventional MIMO.

By analyzing a data sample of $e^+e^-$ collisions with center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $7.9~\rm {fb}^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we study semileptonic decays of the $D^{0(+)}$ mesons into the axial-vector meson $b_1(1235)$ via the decay $b_1(1235)\to ωπ$. The decay $D^0\to b_1(1235)^-e^{+}ν_{e}$ is observed with a significance of 5.2$σ$ after considering systematic uncertainty, while evidence for the decay $D^+\to b_1(1235)^0 e^+ν_e$ is obtained with a 3.1$σ$ significance. The product branching fractions are determined to be ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to b_{1}(1235)^-e^{+}ν_{e})\times {\mathcal B} (b_1(1235)^-\to ωπ^-) = (0.72\pm0.18^{+0.06}_{-0.08})\times10^{-4}$ and ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to b_{1}(1235)^0e^{+}ν_{e})\times {\mathcal B} (b_1(1235)^0~\to ωπ^0) = (1.16\pm0.44\pm0.16)\times10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The ratio of their partial decay widths is determined to be $\frac{Γ(D^0\to b_{1}(1235)^-e^{+}ν_{e})}{2Γ(D^+\to b_{1}(1235)^0e^{+}ν_{e})}=0.78\pm0.19^{+0.04}_{-0.05}$, which is consistent with unity, predicted by isospin invariance, within uncertainties.

We develop a new integrated communications and security (ICAS) design paradigm by leveraging the concept of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). In particular, we propose RIS-assisted simultaneous transmission and secret key generation by sharing the RIS for these two tasks. Specifically, the legitimate transceivers intend to jointly optimize the data transmission rate and the key generation rate by configuring the phase-shift of the RIS in the presence of a smart attacker. We first derive the key generation rate of the RIS-assisted physical layer key generation (PLKG). Then, to obtain the optimal RIS configuration, we formulate the problem as a secure transmission (ST) game and prove the existence of the Nash equilibrium (NE), and then derive the NE point of the static game. For the dynamic ST game, we model the problem as a finite Markov decision process and propose a model-free reinforcement learning approach to obtain the NE point. Particularly, considering that the legitimate transceivers cannot obtain the channel state information (CSI) of the attacker in real-world conditions, we develop a deep recurrent Q-network (DRQN) based dynamic ST strategy to learn the optimal RIS configuration. The details of the algorithm are provided, and then, the system complexity is analyzed. Our simulation results show that the proposed DRQN based dynamic ST strategy has a better performance than the benchmarks even with a partial observation information, and achieves "one time pad" communication by allocating a suitable weight factor for data transmission and PLKG.

Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology has significantly enhanced spectral and power efficiency in cellular communications and is expected to further evolve towards extra-large-scale MIMO. However, centralized processing for massive MIMO faces practical obstacles, including excessive computational complexity and a substantial volume of baseband data to be exchanged. To address these challenges, decentralized baseband processing has emerged as a promising solution. This approach involves partitioning the antenna array into clusters with dedicated computing hardware for parallel processing. In this paper, we investigate the gradient-based Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method -- an advanced MIMO detection technique known for its near-optimal performance in centralized implementation -- within the context of a decentralized baseband processing architecture. This decentralized design mitigates the computation burden at a single processing unit by utilizing computational resources in a distributed and parallel manner. Additionally, we integrate the mini-batch stochastic gradient descent method into the proposed decentralized detector, achieving remarkable performance with high efficiency. Simulation results demonstrate substantial performance gains of the proposed method over existing decentralized detectors across various scenarios. Moreover, complexity analysis reveals the advantages of the proposed decentralized strategy in terms of computation delay and interconnection bandwidth when compared to conventional centralized detectors.

Its decay branching fraction is measured to be $(12.24\pm4.60(\mathrm{stat.})\pm2.37(\mathrm{syst.})\pm4.68(\mathrm{extr.}))\times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third uncertainty is from the branching fraction of the $ψ(3686)\toγη_{c}(2S)$ decay. The upper limit on the product branching fraction $B[ψ(3686)\toγη_{c}(2S)] \times$ $B[η_{c}(2S)\to K^+ K^- η^{\prime}]$ is set to be $1.14 \times 10^{-6}$ at $90\%$ confidence level. In addition, the branching fractions of $χ_{c1}\to K^+ K^- η^{\prime}$ and $χ_{c2}\to K^+ K^- η^{\prime}$ are updated to be $(8.47\pm0.09(\mathrm{stat.})\pm0.47(\mathrm{syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$ and $(1.53\pm0.04(\mathrm{stat.})\pm0.08(\mathrm{syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$, respectively. The precision is improved by twofold.

Linear causal models are important tools for modeling causal dependencies and yet in practice, only a subset of the variables can be observed. In this paper, we examine the parameter identifiability of these models by investigating whether the edge coefficients can be recovered given the causal structure and partially observed data. Our setting is more general than that of prior research - we allow all variables, including both observed and latent ones, to be flexibly related, and we consider the coefficients of all edges, whereas most existing works focus only on the edges between observed variables. Theoretically, we identify three types of indeterminacy for the parameters in partially observed linear causal models. We then provide graphical conditions that are sufficient for all parameters to be identifiable and show that some of them are provably necessary. Methodologically, we propose a novel likelihood-based parameter estimation method that addresses the variance indeterminacy of latent variables in a specific way and can asymptotically recover the underlying parameters up to trivial indeterminacy. Empirical studies on both synthetic and real-world datasets validate our identifiability theory and the effectiveness of the proposed method in the finite-sample regime.
