     He gained the rank of Captain in the 20th Hussars.¹ He fought in the Indian Mutiny, where he defended Lucknow with the 7th Bengal Light Cavalry.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Farquhar [U.K., 1821] on 8 June 1872.¹

     Sir Robert Townsend-Farquhar, 6th Bt. was born on 26 September 1841.¹ He was the son of Sir Walter Minto Townsend-Farquhar, 2nd Bt. and Erica Catherine Mackay.¹ He died on 30 June 1924 at age 82.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery.¹ He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Farquhar [U.K., 1821] on 14 August 1877.¹ On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.¹
