About the LJ Tumblr

Hello and welcome to the Library Journal tumblr: a more informal outpost for all things libraries and library-related.

LJ has been active on Tumblr since around September of 2011. Since then, it’s been mentioned in Betabeat, GQ, Complex, Min, and The Millions. In 2013, Library Journal moderated a panel at BEA on Tumblr and libraries, participated in a Conversation Starter on the same topic at ALA, and organized a meetup for librarians on Tumblr.

We love libraries, librarians, and the internet. (And Beyoncé.)

Tumblr is like if social networking and blogs had a baby. It is a beautiful baby.

Why should I care?

There are lots of exciting library-related things happening on Tumblr. First, it’s a community: one you can easily explore with the tag #tumblarians. Second, it’s a news source: one you can follow here or using the tags #libraries or #librarians. Third: gifs.
